It is quite cynical (but potentially accurate) thinking that the technique of most Indian specialist batsmen abroad (e.g. in England, NZ, South Africa or Australia) is no better than Jadeja who at least has some grit about him. If India continue to get rolled over for joke scores, I wouldn't be surprised if they call up Pandya as a batsman.

I like they've gone with Gill. Rahul is proven to be so-so at Test cricket and has a not fantastic FC record (IIRC). It is good to give an opportunity to someone who may be a future star.
