I actually feel the delays are wholly the worse problem, football in the Prem is almost purely an Entertainment for me, I have no dog in the race. Honestly feel the 30 seconds and if you can't decide remains with Ref's call, would stop almost all my ire with it.

Hate how it kills the flow of the game, as TBH that flow is probably one of the main reasons it's the most popular sport in the World, by far.

As for killing the joy of the goal, being a miserablist bastard I almost always look at the linesman and ref before I go utterly mental, remember going mental for a couple of Sol Campbell goals:censored:
Yeah I agree with this. VAR makes the problem much worse but the amount of dead time has been increasing for years, largely because slowing football down makes it easier to ref. They should do more to allow quick free kicks and stuff too.

I think it was Wenger recently who suggested you should be able to dribble from a free kick. I’d never thought about it but I think he’s right. It’s a weird rule. Why wouldn’t you be allowed to? The game might flow a lot quicker if any time you’re fouled you can just set the ball down and run with it.

I don’t like the idea of dribbling from a free kick. But the moving ball rule has always been a big disadvantage to the team that was sinned against.

I have to say it's not something I've thought about that much, but you are almost certainly right about the game slowing down over the last 10 years or so.

Still better than 40 years ago, I mean I recently watched the '82 World Cup match between Italy and Brazil, which is much in the news ATM, and whilst my thoughts tat Brazil were still a lovely football team, (even though playing in relative slow motion compared to nowadays), and Italy were a bunch of jammy bastards remained the same, what I didn't remember was how little football was played through time-wasting, and just repetitive back-passes. I think football probably realised they had a problem here and so changed rule (back-pass law, time-wasting bookings more liberally used) to speed up the game and make sure we played lot more actual meaningful minutes.

Yet, we soon forget which is always the problem of history as we seem to be learning in other matters, and you are right things are slowing down allowing things like Ainsworth's disgusting spoilers being in the Championship( **** I hate that guy, that Football Focus interview so cringe. Perhaps it's time to have a look at it again.

Has anyone ever used the FA Player streaming service? All 3rd Round FA Cup ties not chosen for TV coverage are going to be live on it.

Good close game today then grecian
Hey we're a great attacking team, lousy defensive one, you could have maybe changed it up by attacking us.

Joel Randall superstar by the way.

Not going to gloat TBH, because we are still only in play-off places, and as you might imagine I would not look forward to those.

I had a bad feeling today anyway, but we generally can play some good stuff. On a few occasions this season though we've thoroughly imploded. You guys were good though.

The thing is Exeweb had a big campaign practically about getting rid of Bowman, which is why those blokes are *****, I mean we have all the technical ability from Jay, Randall, Williams and the like, and Ryan is basically the big man up-front who holds it all together, ridiculous comparison, but like France with Giroud, anyway it's fun to watch. Didn't go today, and I'm not even sure why, unlike you I kinda feel it needs to be a proper feeling before I go, just want it to feel normal, whatever that is, can't even explain it, like so much of this year.

I do know what you mean. But damn it I missed it so much that I just wanted to be there.

BTW, exeweb sounds similar to our forum the cowsheds which I successfully weaned myself off this year. Genuinely think it's one of the smarter decisions I've made in recent years

He's got a number of other interesting ideas like this as well. Kick ins rather than throw ins as a means of discouraging defenders just booting the ball out to just waste time/play really negatively is another interesting one.

Nah it really isn't. it means basically all football teams in the opposing halves will get to the lines and try to flick it off a defender. hoping for a good free-kick position. I like Wenger but this seems ridiculous to me.

Imagine the poor sod who has to make a highlights package of that?

No intensity whatsoever in that game.

For Utd on paper that's two 5.30pm saturday games where they have bored the world into 0-0 draws against arguably superior opponents!
