*Official* West Indies in New Zealand - Nov/Dec 2020

The weather is starting to clear a bit today but don't expect a full day's game tomorrow. Likely a late start and don't think it's even possible to start prior lunch or tea tomorrow. Still looking at the deck it won't last more than 3 days and result is guaranteed.

Young can definitely take this nasty finger-breaking assignment up, from the perspective of Conway fans.

Good timing if Kane did have to miss a game. I'd rather see him playing both the test matches vs Pakistan. This series is already set up and we don't really have to fret unless WI plays outstanding cricket.

Stuff article from 20 minutes ago says he is playing?

Black Caps captain Kane Williamson will lead his side in Friday’s second cricket test against West Indies in Wellington, after jetting back to Tauranga to be with his pregnant wife.

Williamson left the squad on Wednesday night to be with wife Sarah, who is expecting the couple’s first child this month.

The pair attended a scheduled midwife’s appointment on Thursday, and after a conversation with coach Gary Stead, Williamson is booked to return to the capital on Thursday afternoon and join the squad for his 82nd test, at the Basin Reserve.

Yeah article did originally say he was a slim chance of coming back into the squad, but that he'd left. They've since changed it.

Does this mean King Conway can play the A game afterall?

Hold on, now he's been ruled out.

Black Caps captain Kane Williamson is out of the second cricket test against West Indies, having flown from Tauranga to Wellington then promptly returned home on Thursday to be with his pregnant wife.

Barely four hours after it was confirmed he would take his place, Black Caps coach Gary Stead advised Williamson would miss the match at Wellington’s Basin Reserve to support wife Sarah who is due to give birth to their first child in “mid to late December”.

Young in to number three now. Hope he goes well, but a shame Conway couldn’t have got a home debut in his preferred batting position. :(

20 minutes from now....."Kane williamson has hijacked a plane mid-flight and flown it back to welly so he can take back his spot and make this all even more convoluted than before".

With Kane out, how much of a chance do we give the West Indies of pulling off an upset?
If things go right at the toss, the pitch makes it a shoot- out, and the Windies bowl the right length, possible. Latham aside, the rest of the NZ batting wasn’t great. Though in previous seasons Sri Lanka and India have bowled out NZ for lowish scores in their first innings only to throw away the advantage when their turn to bat.

Also, while KW’s absence could have an impact, West Indies will definitely miss Roach who was their best bowler at Seddon Park.

100% support Kane missing this test, but what's the story behind the back-and-forth?
