J Doran 19 (88) SR 21.59
J Doran 36 (155) SR 23.22
J Doran 112 (229) SR 48.90

COULD IT BE. Could the son that was PROMISED to save Australian batting have finally arrived on this planet?

GAS please explain how the Redbacks could let both Doran and Paine hit centuries.

BARNES OUT
Cameron Green is a gun on ICC 2020 FWIW. Helped my Derbyshire team to back to back Championship/T20 doubles.
Yeah he smokes them, averages 68/27 after 40-odd tests for me in my save atm.

Tim Paine record is bizarre. 33 fifties and only 2 hundreds, one of them a double
When he was made captain, the coach (Lehmann) had more recently made a FC ton.
The original stat was when he was selected, wasn't it? I thought Lehmann stepped down before Paine was even made skipper.

That said, I imagine that the stat remains true for the captaincy if you replace Lehmann with Langer as well.

He'll be Hilton Cartwright 2.0 and do even less bowling.

I can see that more clearly than him being the promised brother of the son that was promised.

Green has far more bowling potential than Cartwright

He’s very tall with wheels

Only question is whether body holds up

I think for the last Test in SA, Lehmann was still coach but Paine was captain.

What speed does green actually bowl? Remember people saying on here that he's a 130-140 bowler but cricket aus are claiming he can hit above 145 here for some reason.
"Over six foot (in old currency) tall and regularly clocking speeds above 145kph, bowling is regarded by many to be Green's strong suit"

It's been so long, but I remember the man bowling slower than Umar Gul on a bad day.

How tall is cam green? Google says he's 184cm but turner's 191 cm and green is noticeably taller than him in this pick https://www4.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Ashton+Turner+Cameron+Green+WA+v+NSW+JLT+One+o_WETjduOJzl.jpg .
Green is 200cm which is 6"7. He was an AFL ruck prospect in the underage levels.

He's 15cm taller than Ben Stokes as an example and 1cm shorter than Curtly Ambrose.

This Green is not the one who was reported for suspect action, was he?
I get that he hasn't made his test debut yet, so he is still somewhat of an unknown to cricket fans overseas. But surely most on here now know who he is?

Regardless of if he's made his test debut, he's probably in the best 3 or 4 u/21 cricketers on the planet at the moment.

He's now averaging 54 with the bat in the Sheffield Shield and 21 with the ball as a 21 year old. He was always regarded as a bowling All-Rounder coming through the Australian underage setups and was considered a future Australian bowling prospect on his bowling potential alone, regardless of his batting.

Given his form with the bat and once he starts bowling again, he will be the most hyped young Australian cricket since Ponting to make his test debut, which could be as early as the first test this summer.

He's now averaging 15 more than Head in FC cricket and 12 more than Pucovski who probably would have made his debut already if not for his mental health issues.

He bowled 135-140 as a 17/18 year old in the Shield prior to his back injuries.

Which would have made him one of the quickest bowlers at the last u/19 world Cup.

If you add +5 kph or so to young bowlers once they hit their mid 20's, I'd say he's likely a low 140ish modern Cummins (rather than young Cummins) pace bowler in terms of speed down the track.

I can't think of a better young all-rounder prospect in recent memory. Stokes was good, but he was nowhere near this good at the same age. Probably Kallis really.

As good as Shane Watson was in underage levels for Aus, he wasn't this good either and Green quite clearly is on a whole other level to Watson with his bowling potential given his size and height.

Reported bowling speeds are like listing your height on a dating app. Always add on about 10%. If people are saying he bowls 145, he probably hits about 130 on a decent day.

From what I saw Green looked about high 130s last time I saw him, so certainly sharp but 145 may be overcooking things a bit. But more than pace what really stood out to me is his ability to swing the ball away while still hitting the deck and getting extra bounce, just looks like the sort of bowling that can get class batsman out, always thought it would be his main skill longterm up until quite recently

My opinion has probably shifted a touch, initially I really wanted him to be bowling at full capacity before being considered, but the more I think just the ability to bowl a handful of overs as a change bowler is sufficient if he keeps making runs.

As for the SA v TAS game, that was just painful. Sayers was class but he recieved minimal support, KRichardson was good in bursts but Agar was underwhelming, Pope far too inconsistent and the fielding simply lacking energy. Depressing but I can't really see any solution. Franky Worrall might be of assistance but he is still a couple of weeks off, Mennie still in England for the indefinite future, grade stocks thin as ever. May be a touch of a risk but I would seriously consider looking to get Tim Oakley into the setup, got wheels for days

Still of the opinion that it's better in the long term to wait until he's bowling fully to make him a fixture in the national team, but giving him a game in a potential dead rubber 4th test vs India as a batsman to get him used to the setup could be a good idea, also means he's eligible for county stuff, which will only help his development.
