Chahar, Thakur, Jadeja, Curran, Faf can be retained. Rest can **** off.
Bravo? Hazlewood? I think Rayudu is worth retaining too for next year at least - heard there won't be a big auction next year and it'll be delayed until most likely late 2021/early 2022. On that basis, is Rayudu worse then the Indian players who get released this year?

Whatever it takes!!!

I made that post assuming there will be a mega auction. If not, we are screwed next year too, unless somehow Raina and CSK management patch things up.

Was reading the other day and supposedly with Covid delaying this IPL and it reportedly taking about 9 months for scouting and to come up with auction strategies that there will be no big auction and not absolutely guaranteed there will be any auction - wonder who gets released if there is a small auction that might interest other teams. Perhaps Finch and maybe Parthiv for us, if a good overseas middle-order batsman who can keep is available as Parthiv doesn't look like he'll play much in the future sadly and burdening Abdv with the gloves probably isn't feasable long term. But are there many overseas players at the moment who aren't already in the competition who would attract big interest.

Looking online now think these picks for last years auction who I think could be released.

Coulter Nile to Mumbai - 8 Crore
Cottrell to KXIP - 8.5 crore
Maxwell to KXIP - 10.75 crore
Cummins to KKR - 15.5 crore
Chawla to CSK - 6.75 crore
Steyn to RCB - 2 crore
Hetmyer to DC - 7.75 crore

Think Delhi might persist with Hetmyer for another year and re-evaluate for the big auction. KKR might do the same with Cummins. But after that I think KXIP are probably best placed of the 4 sides that look like not qualifying as they can release 19.25 crore of talent in Cottrell and Maxwell and try to find direct overseas replacement which is far easier when you've got decent money to spend to replace them and you are looking for overseas rather then Indian players.

Mumbai might persist with NCN unless there is a star replacement availbale in the draft I think.

With Karn Sharma, Harbhajan, Jadeja and then Tahir as an overseas, CSK can probably afford to let Chawla go - guess the big question is whether they can find a key overseas player who can add impetus to their side. Someone like a Joe Root would probably be good for them, bats with intensity and has a solid enough game to adapt to pitches in Chennai. Could also look to utilise a couple overs of spin from him.

I do think a lot of it is about intent with CSK - if that could improve I think CSK are still a decent team if nothing amazing but Faf has had a couple good innings, Rayudu and Raina are far from the worst Indian batsman around. Dhoni needs to not take things so deep and start with more purpose and that's the making of a semi-decent batting lineup - the bowling kind of sorts itself out already I think - with time to reflect on this season maybe CSK will improve next year and they won't have to play 3 games at Sharjah next year either if all goes okay with Covid. Don't think they'll win in 2021 or even qualify for final stages but would expect them to be closer to the playoff mix in 2021. Harbhajan too comes into things next year.

Surely now with nothing to play for, CSK can finally play this side?

Faf
Rayudu
Rituraj
Jagadeesan
Jaddu
MSD (c) (wk)
Curran
Chahar
Thakur
Hazlewood/Ngidi
Tahir

6 solid bowling options, 4 seamers all of whom can bowl at the death and 2 good spinners for once. Batting till 9 which is what they need anyways given they are reluctant to hit out. Some younger legs on the field too with Jagadeesan and Rituraj, while they are no Jontys they will be an improvement over Jadhav and Watson, and there is no way Tahir is a worse fielder than Chawla even at his age. Haze/Ngidi will give a strong arm quick moving deep fielder too.

I saw a meme on IG last couple of hours...which shows everyone celebrating after the super over win and Neesham without any reactions...to which he said that he was dead inside...so I thought that was because he wasn't selected in the playing xi at all this year.

LOL
