Showing off his galaxy brain captaincy, tbh.

If any of the Aussies still had any inkling that Smith could be made captain again, I think he is proving very easily that he should never be kept anywhere near that role. I honestly think doing it long term will impact his batting output. For a guy who already seems to live and breathe cricket, a bit like Sachin, he may need the time and space just being a regular player in the side affords.

Of course, he can always provide his inputs on strategy and tactics on the field but the entire pressure of fronting up to media and all the other captaincy responsibilities will be very tough on him IMO.
Isn't smith's batting average in test better with captaincy then without? It won't effect his batting but he shouldn't be anywhere near the captaincy, would rather let Travis head captain and bowl himself as the primary spinner then give it to smith again.

It won't effect his batting
That is a stretch. All we know so far is it hasn't affected his batting when he was captain before. But it may well be coz he was still fresh both as a player and as a captain between 2014 and 2016. Right now, I don't see that happening and I have felt this from the 2017 tour of India where he did bat really well but the strain was becoming obvious and it boiled out finally in RSA.

Head is good.Aussies need to stick with him.Against India he was the only batsman who was putting up some sort of fight.
Nothing wrong with head the batsmen, plays stupid shots and has concrete shoes but he's done well so far, just don't like the idea of him being the next test captain.

Head's captaincy is good though. My only reservation is that I'm not sure he'll cement a spot. Having your captain as a questionable selection is never a good situation to be in.

If he cements a place on his batting I'm all for it though.

Finch is probably gonna make a massive score after I say this but he should not be in the xi this game. He's made 2 decent scores this season that came from multiple drops catches each time and he's averaging 24 @110, would much rather have Philippe/Patel open in his place and take the gloves so were not risking ab getting injured.

RCB deserve to lose every game from here on out just for sending Washington Sundar ahead of AB. Surely the middle of the tournament is too soon to become complacent and start giving youngsters chances.

I read it more as a worry about not having hitting power in the back end. And maybe also an acknowledgement of how much they are asking him to do being the keeper.

My galaxy brain theory to explain these galaxy brain moves by RCB -

Katich loves Sundar and sees him as a very capable allrounder. Virat loves Dube and sees him the same way. They wanted the leftie against the leggies and keep AB for the back quarter coz no one else seems to be able to go from ball 1 on this track. So they compromised and decided BOTH will go ahead of AB.
