*Official* Pakistan in England 2020

Whatever it takes!!!
I see him as in the “will he end up Patrick Paterson or Michael Holding?” phase atm. Probably fortunate they’ve had two low sides touring this summer over there, but I reckon they’ll be looking at his attitude as output pretty hard. The dropping last test seems like a shot across the bow to him. Not a af approach imho
Yeah, I agree he seems to be like that right now but he also has a brains trust of Stokes, Buttler and Steve Smith when he plays for RR and two of them play with him for England too. Think he will figure it out in terms of approach and attitude, at least in the short term. Would be great for the world game too. Then it depends on how well he can handle his inevitable success and star status.

Broad realises that he needs lbw or bowled rather than hope that one of his team-mates actually holds onto an edge. Can that one open the door?

Pitch looks flat right now. Couple of decent partnerships should not be beyond Pakistan here.

Yeah, unless the forecast for tomorrow turns out to be spectacularly wrong, the draw is strong favourite right now. Really I'm just hoping for Anderson's 600.

I'd say Archer & Bess both have a bit to play for too, having had underwhelming summers. Bess probably in more danger

Oh that sucks. Think if they get another 60 overs in total, they should have a decent chance of getting it done...

Not convinced with Bess personally. Surprised he keeps getting picked over Leach.
He’s been unlucky at times but I agree he hasn’t looked good enough. Reckon he’s got a bit more to work with long term than Leach though.

Yeah, he's definitely not had luck go his way, but it's a case of "has been a bit better than his poor figures suggest", not "has been really good but the numbers don't show it".

I think you're right about the long term, I don't think his bowling will ever be leagues ahead of Leach (who in himself I'd say is probably a solid test spinner overall, nothing more) but his batting should make him an appreciably better package if his bowling does improve, although tbf to Leach he's certainly has his moments with the bat in test cricket. Bess is much younger so we may as well stick with Leach for a few years (assuming he does ok, obviously) and revisit Bess when he's got a bit more experience. At least he looks like he's just not ready yet but might be one day, rather than making you wonder "how will he ever succeed?"

Jimmy passing the edge with the first ball of his new spell. He's really pissed off the cricketing gods somewhere along the line.

EDIT
And there's number 599 after all.
