I must admit that I haven't watched much since the restart, so I'm governed by their results more than their actual performances. I did see them being outplayed at home to Burnley a couple of weeks ago, when they were pretty dire tbf. But I gather they were a bit unlucky last night.
I was chatting the other day about Palace's best ever team, so lots of talk about Taylor and Rogers from the 1970s, the better players from the 'Team of the 80s', Wright and co from the early 1990s. Throw in Budgie Byrne from the early 1960s and we were pretty much there. But of course, it's all nonsense. The current side is the one that's had the longest run in the top flight. Throw in improved fitness, technique and tactics compared to earlier generations, and the discussion ends there. In relative terms, the team that finished 3rd in 1990/91 achieved more, but the current side would probably beat them if we could access a time machine. I do find them pretty uninspiring, but I know that's not the point. And I suppose that however many relegations we've endured from the top flight means that we tend to expect another one any time soon.
