Whatever it takes!!!
Seems like Stokes or Bess have worked out he can be swept easily too, the midwicket is positioned more towards square for that very shot, I think. A slog sweep could well go a lot straighter than where that guy is positioned.

The sweep doesn't come naturally to a lot of batsmen; it's an unnatural movement and requires serious practice. Also, modern franchise cricket is making the conventional sweep somewhat obsolete so batsmen perhaps aren't as skilled at it as they once were.
I'm pretty convinced the sweep going out of fashion in the current generation of batsmen is atleast partly responsible for the decline in general quality of batting against spin we've seen in recent years. They need to watch some younis khan innings on youtube.

Really miss Younis randomly deciding to deposit a spinner into the legside. Used to do it at will.

Or Andy Flower and Jimmy Adams. Best is of course, Lara. He knew how to use the sweep judiciously. Misbah pretty good too, from memory. Mahela another one.

He used to sweep the ball from half way down the pitch, used to get really long reach due to massive stride and full extension, crazy technique to pull off

If you do wanna hit, why not hit straight, why try to go over extra when you are only on 12? It is a hard shot to play even if you are on 100.
