The National League is all a bit deja vu. York are top of National League North but dropped to second on PPG so have submitted an alternative proposal to get themselves promoted.

Ah nice, this is actually pretty good imo. Hope the Premiership/UK games have this when they get underway again.

I tend to think the European crowd noise is easier to simulate. It often comes across as a relentless muffled droning sound with lots of whistling and horns sounding. Premier League crowds seem to be quieter and more reactive to what happens on the pitch. Though I might just need a new telly.

I find it a bit cringe and would rather it wasn't there, but it's not like they're making us listen to Steve McManaman during the game.

I don’t think PPG forms any part of their argument. They were doomed by any mathematical equation. It’s just being relegated with 24 points left to play for is their gripe. I don’t think you can go to court and just say it’s not fair your honour. So it’ll be interesting to see what the legal basis of their challenge is.

Go on Hearts. Down with PPG
We didn't even use PPG, just took the league table as it was and that's that.

Partick Thistle got relegated from the Championship because they were 2 points off 9th - but they had a game in hand.

I'm not sure which is worse.

Instinctively I'd say PPG is marginally fairer. But in L1 Wycombe jumped from 8th to 3rd basically because they had a game in hand-said game was against Coventry and they'd have been hard pressed to win.

But ultimately settling a league when you've got teams who haven't played each other is always going to be ludicrous. I have zero sympathy for ppg as a solution but I do agree that there's no good way of settling things if you aren't going to play

Yes, I only saw that yesterday and bearing in mind how we dicked them at their place and they were in decline, they're the luckiest team from all of this I'd say. They'll no doubt now fluke 3 wins and go up (which again I wouldn't mind as it sews up one of the relegation spots next season).

Euro 2004 might be an underrated tournament, watching England vs Croatia and both defences are being ripped apart constantly and the comms are like ‘not much happening here’. It hasn’t the best reputation because of Greece, but part of the reason they were so effective is that no one else was playing that way.

Suffers from the same problem virtually every major tournament of the decade did - the knockouts were fairly cagey affairs.

Haha just watched the highlights of this game on YouTube. Remembered the Rooney goals after seeing them, but otherwise I have no real memory of this game. Which is quite weird actually, as I remember all the other England games from this tournament pretty clearly.
