You'd have to scrap the League Cup then at a minimum as there's no room to play an additional 4 league games.

You'd probably also have to scrap FA Cup replays for Premier League clubs.
This would be fine.

The whole thing does not feel right at all but has seemed inevitable for a couple of months now. Tranmere are so much more ****ed over than anyone else though.

The focus has obviously been on Tranmere for good reason but the League one promotion is pretty much a joke as well, Rotherham are very lucky.

Said this to a Rotherham fan last night. Didn't they just lose to Rochdale? They were definitely slipping out of form.

And don't get me started on Wycombe

I'll say it again. Clubs voting to end the season and then participating in play offs, it's laughable.

Having a vote on it, when each team knows what they stand to gain or lose, is so utterly contrived as well.

The problem with allowing clubs a vote is that naked self interest is going to be the name of the game.

Clubs in the relegation spots but who aren't mathematically certain to go down, and those who are just outside title/promotion/playoff spots will obviously want the season to continue.

Those just outside relegation or who are in the title etc slots will want it to end.

Midtable sides won't care either way but will probably vote to end the season to avoid a shitshow with contracts etc.

They seem to have conspired to do the maximum amount of harm they can. ********* solution tbh. **** the FA #SWA

Spot on. Once they announced PPG was the method and it would go to vote by division, I knew we were down as I could only count nine clubs that would possibly vote to continue the season. And in the end, four of them didn't bother. Contrived as ****.

What are the alternatives to a vote? If the EFL have to make a decision with no consultation the season would have either have been ended with the same outcome, or they force teams to continue and 75% of League 1 and 2 go out of business.

Things better than a vote:

- Finish the season
- Null and void it
- No relegation
- Force all chairmen to read all of Richard's posts

The ELF are probably having a good laugh about the bottom of League One. It could have been a minefield with a tight battle with four teams still capable of getting out of the relegation zone. As it was Bury were gone and two others were beyond stranded. It left one dissenting voice and the rest of the league thinking it's a bit unfair but not really caring.

Yeah the stranded teams really didn't help the cause. Southend did argue for null and void briefly

Someone from the EFL showing leadership and making a decision instead of passing the buck to the clubs and then going along with the clubs voting in their own individual interest.

They did make a decision. That's why we still have promotion and relegation intact as was originally intended. If they'd done it without the clubs involvement they would have been equally slated - and Tranmere would still be relegated.

I have to laugh at Peterborough, Adrian Durham the arse spent weeks slagging off Shrewsbury as we called off the home game early in the season due to having international call ups when we also had an injury crisis and Posh were flying so he moaned it was 3 points they were missing out on. We won the rearranged match later on and that means that we stopped Posh making the playoffs. I love this little fact and it is funny seeing how The Posh chairman is moaning so much on tv and social media.

8 points clear of 3rd with a game in hand and unbeaten since before Christmas?
What has that got to do with Rotherham?

Have consistently used Coventry as an example of why null and void would be just as bad as PPG, they clearly deserved to be promoted.

Sorry, misinterpreted your comment about it being a joke.

The fact of the matter is that there was never going to be a solution that was financially viable and would keep everyone happy.

That said, I think the play-offs should've been scrapped as if the clubs vote to finish the season they can't then carry on and play games (and in one case I believe ask for handouts as they can't afford to play the play-offs).

I do sympathise with Tranmere and would do so even if it weren't for GIMH but have yet to see a convincing reason why the season being made null and void would be a fairer solution for those at the top who would be denied promotion than those at the bottom who might've avoided relegation - and in terms of finances it would be a lot worse.

Dele Alli banned for the United match for making a tasteless (and was it vaguely racist?) joke about the coronavirus .
