Yeah, in my order Trumper is at 5 where he averaged over 40, Headley at 3 and Simmo opens with Gooch.

Would you people vote for the team that has Larwood coming in at 7?

International Coach
Mohammad Azharuddin to bat at No.6. Border, Azhar & Dhoni are the legends who have played lots of cricket with the tail enders and Larwood probably will score his maiden ton with these legends.

Gun bowling and top order to die for.

Zaheer spent the majority of his career at 3. He did open a couple of times, I don't think it's a huge stretch to push him to opener for the sake of team balance. I felt like Botham was going to win me more tests than Boycott tbh.

I thought about Botham but someone might have done something strange which would have left me with no keeper. Am also generally perfectly happy with 4 bowlers when they are all so good. Tayfield perfect for a holding role and then I had 3 great fast bowlers who are all different.

I think when you have the whole of cricket history to choose from you should be able to pick to actual openers though.

Fair enough but I do think that "openers as a specialist role" is sometimes overblown. People don't seem to bat an eyelid when people put Ponting down at 6 in drafts and that's a much different role from batting at 3. Batting a number 3 one position higher isn't too much of a problem but given the unrestricted nature of this particular draft I do expect it to be held a bit against my team. I still think the equation of Botham at 6 and Zaheer Abbas opening vs Zaheer Abbas down at 5 and Boycott opening tilts in favour of Botham. Beefy brings the X factor.

I don't expect I'll win this one tbh. My openers aren't up to the big 3 standards, I don't have a top 10 pace bowler, my spinner is only 4th or 5th best and my opening bowler averages 26. Still, I feel as though it's a decent enough outfit. Top two run scorers in history, the best ever wicket keeper batsman, a five pronged bowling attack with different, complementary strengths and very strong batting down to 9. A few other sides probably have me beat though.

Trundler should have taken Broad or Bumrah from B IMO. Would have made his team clear favourite to win the draft
