Alphabetic draft

Whatever it takes!!!
Coming up with the Bradman rule I wanted something that a) punished him enough to make other sides competitive, b) wasn't too punitive, c) felt thematic for the draft and d) still gave an interesting drafting experience.

Don't think you achieved (b) tbh. :) But it was a pretty novel and interesting idea.

Very solid. Can't really pick a fault in it.

Well I had to make sure the rule could cope with a second round Bradman pick. Getting someone like Ambrose or even Abdul Qadir first round and then Bradman second would have made the whole draft a lot easier. And I don't think I could have given the Bradman player an M pick given how many good players have that letter.

M is half way through the alphabet. We need 11 players. Picking first round Bradman gives two players in the first 13 letters and leaves 12 letters (13 if you count X) for 9 names.

What I didn't account for was all the Mc names showing up ahead of Mahmadullah. Half the freaking draft abused that (including me) which put AZH at a greater disadvantage than I'd hoped.

Having said that, he's still got Nourse, Steyn and a couple of 40+ averaging batsmen, which still might be enough for his side to be the best.

Having Bradman is such a huge advantage. I like to think of it as having Michael Clarke and Neil Harvey and one extra player.

It could be considered a little dour with the bat, but I don't mind that because I don't have a Kallis or Sobers as a strong 5th bowler. So grinding the opponent down is a good alternative.
