***Official*** India in New Zealand 2020

This has been particularly impressive without Wagner. Great time for Boult to get a bit of form back, and Southee has been sensational.

India lost the last 6 wickets for just 47 runs. Top effort from the bowlers, now it's up to the batsmen to do their job. 8-)

Haha, **** sake, met up with a mate before heading to the Basin and now there the match will be over by the time I get there.

Do the players normally hang around afterwards?

Good win - followed the formula that has worked so well at home against visiting sides for ages, and to my surprise India just kinda wilted. NZ's bowling attack worked very well, especially pleasing how Boult bowled.

If I was an Indian fan I'd be annoyed though (like I was with NZ's performance in Australia) - justifiably number 1 ranked side in the world, yes home wins a big part of that but some great overseas results too, playing a team that's just lost three in a row, and still got smoked from the get-go. Their batsmen aren't standard subcontinent batsmen who are just expected to fail v swing and spongy bounce. Must do better in the second test. Unlucky to have to bat first (I'm still in favour of visiting captain getting one toss auto-win per series) though fortunately the pitch didn't flatten into a total road either.

But... NZ will take it.

Kohli shoudn't really be bringing up the toss as an excuse tbh. Might well have changed the unfolding of events (as any slight change does) but they batted poorly both in testing and less testing conditions, and ultimately bowled worse than NZ too. Think they'll bounce back in the second test mind

Kohli and maybe Rahane aside, their last trip to England would suggest otherwise.

Sounds like a thoroughly professional all round effort. Very pleasing stuff.

Southee with 9 fer sfa is particularly pleasing. The idea that his bowling's no better than CdG's is just precious.

Yeah, bad toss to lose no doubt, but when leak 350 runs and then follow it by falling to cross 200 in significantly more favourable conditions you've gotta own to the fact that you were just beaten by the opposition playing better.

He was getting more zip than he has for a while which made the difference, because yes he's looked decidedly worse than cdg in recent times and i trawled through old tour threads during the aus tour to confirm my memory.

Very disheartening performance but it had all the ingredients of a typical overseas test match for India.

Losing the toss
Batsmen failing
Conceding runs to the lower order
No semblance of fight
And of course the most constant of constants, Ashwin bowling underwhelmingly
