Commentators celebrating a bit early. Understandable from smith given he sat next to mark waugh for a month but settle down.

Well done, NZ. Top performance.

Other than Ishant slotting back in nicely, nothing to salvage from this game for India. Hoping Pant goes big at least.

Fine bowling from the duo this morning, but India thus far haven't looked particularly up for it. Bit suprised Ashwin didn't review that.

Actually I'm talking rubbish by saying "again". This is the lowest his average has ever been in Test cricket (excluding his first match).
It's a pretty crazy statistic when you consider that he has averaged sub 25 in his last 20 matches and approx. 27 in his last 50 matches. The last 3 matches are the first time he has ever averaged under 30 in Test cricket for 3 games in a row.

Williamson and Taylor are also 1 partnership away from being the 18th ever pair to play 70 Test innings together.

Solid effort given most of those partnerships involve openers. Also unsurprising given the only non-opener pairs have been staple-foods of the batting lineups of years gone by. That Dravid/Tendulkar stat is almost obscene.

I hope daddy sticks around to add more than a few more to this tally.
