Oh yeah, he absolutely is full of potential and can probably be another Sehwag for us. But right now, he is at the stage where he has neither committed to playing the Sehwag way nor figured out a way to put together a more compact technique. He needs more time before he can be either and right now, him being neither here nor there is not good enough for us. He has amazing timing and picks length very quickly. Which is why he is good enough to nick or get bat on difficult balls but unfortunately, that just means he gets out more often.

He needs few more A tours before he can come back as a proper batsman and when we have someone like Jadeja left out, it is just irritating when it is for him. I would have understood if they did it for Rohit (would have still been the same result but at least understandable). I just think its better for the kid's development if they don't let him get found out like this.
No point playing A tours at home, he will smash it all over the park there. He needs more A tours to UK, SA and Aus perhaps. We just provide absolute belters for India A which doesn't anywhere resemble the kind of pitch at Basin. We did have testing deck on the first day for one India A game and the warm up game. Both the games Indian top order struggled to cope.

What’s McCullum talking about? Pujura has big hundreds in both Australia and South Africa and against attacks which are quicker and on surfaces which have considerably more bounce. Lazy to describe him simply as a home track bully.

I’d imagine you cant throw anyone in the middle and hope he bats like sehwag. Sehwag didnt have Sehwag before him. It came natural to him. I haven’t watched a lot of shaw but he should not be playing if he is lacking in technique here esp so early in his career and hoping he will make it up with hand eye coordination alone. Even the comms brought Sehwag up after his dismissal

I don't think India threw him in hoping he would bat like Sehwag. I am talking about Shaw himself and how he probably wants to play the game. Either way, I felt it was a poor decision to go for either Shaw or Gill over Jadeja at the beginning of the match and I still feel the same. Vihari has more chance of succeeding in these conditions right now than either Shaw or Gill. I do agree though that long term those two are part of our future but given how we play no more tests till the end of the year after this series, I would have rather gone with the option that was likelier to succeed in this series.

Whenever we got their feed, Craig Cumming has been pretty good with his analyses. Dunno what Ian Smith has against him? I am not watching right now, so can someone summarize what happened?

Why do we still suck so much at cleaning up the tail

Reckon Bumrah's been rushed back in too quickly. Isn't fully match fit yet, hence being low on speed and erratic. He needs overs under his belt, should be getting them in Domestic cricket and not in International cricket imo.

Need a huge third innings here now.

Bumrah was pulled out of one of the Ranji games. The NCA doctors and physios have not been good, have they? Lots of questions to be asked. Hopefully Dravid can get to the bottom of it and clean the junk up.

Missed that. What happened?
Smith asked Doull a question about what happens when Wagner comes back, and after Doull answered Cumming gave his 2c as well. Smith replied with "I was having a conversation with Simon, I'm not sure why you had to stick your nose in."

I think he was joking but Cumming was sort of taken aback and didn't say anything at all for another over or two until he was specifically invited to by Smithy, then commented about how excited he'd been for his one shift with Smith today. It was all really weird and awkward.

Also: I think he gloved that tbh. Very understandable decision from the third umpire given the on field call but I do think he gloved it.

Smith and Doull were discussing who Wagner replaces in the side, Cummins said something and Smith said something like 'me and Simon were having a nice chat there don't know why you felt the need to butt in'

Dunno if it was light hearted ribbing or genuine annoyance

Was a great short ball from Jaimeson though. Quite a lack of imagination leaving him out for Sydney, though the wayvthat tour went may have been the best thing for him.
