State Vice-Captain
Bumrah has really looked off colour. Doesn't bode well for us at all. We just haven't hit the right length in general apart from ishant. Even ashwin has dropped 1 short every over.

Ash unlucky to have bowled pretty much the perfect offbreak and ended up conceding a bye. Saying it again, Shaw over Jadeja was stupid.
It was not stupid, saying that over and over again doesn't make it so.

At worst it was a marginally incorrect decision. I'm not sure how you've concluded "ah we shouldn't have played the extra batsmen and should've made the No.6 open" after looking at the rubbish total we put up anyways. Considering how our batting fared, playing the extra batsman wasn't a bad call at all. Just too bad it didn't help.

Jadeja would have helped with the bowling, but if we won the toss we might not be having this conversation. It's absolutely not as bad a call as you're making it out to be.

Need a couple of wickets this half hour or this could get ugly. Apart from Ishant, the bowlers have looked seriously unthreatening the little I've watched.

Nah... Shaw will never be the kind of opener we need in NZ. Vihari has the technique to graft in for a while and Jadeja is more than capable of holding his own at 6 or 7 plus we get the additional bowling option.

And the real reason why it was stupid was how little we can depend on Bumrah and Ishant's fitness. The basics about Basin Reserve all point to a hard grind on days 3-5 irrespective of how the first two days go. Which means you will always need 5 bowlers and when the batsmen in comparison are Shaw with the laundry list of weaknesses in such conditions and Jadeja, who can contribute across all disciplines and help with the bowling workload, the answer is obvious, except to the Indian team management and maybe you.

And you repeating again and again that a #6 can't open, when he was the second best opener for us even in Aus last year does not make it right either. Its not about where a batsman bats. Its about whether he has the tools to succeed in a particular role and I do not see why Vihari cannot succeed as an opener in these conditions. He bats #3 in FC cricket, FFS.

**** off Ashwin. Throws up a short ball every over ffs.

Yeah funny you weren't posting when he was easily our second best bowler during the earlier session.

Still is our second best bowler today, so far, FTR. Shami is such a liability when our batting does not do well too. Can't hold a length ever for even 4 consecutive balls. Bumrah is rusty af and seems like he is still feeling his way back into international cricket. Unless he puts in a big effort in his next spell, and Ash has some luck with his good balls, it will be just Ishant to keep us in the contest even to like a 20% chance.

would take something remarkable for NZ to lose from here. A big third innings and aim for a draw has to be the plan for India. Kohli needs to score a 200.
