Yeah; thankfully he has a really smooth action so it hopefully won't be as big an issue as would be the case with many others. But it'll certainly be a big consideration - as with pretty much any guy who bowls 140+ for that period of time.
It's really not an ideal situation at the moment though as KG is so critical to a young bowling line-up; as someone said in the SA selection thread, we could really do with resting him sooner rather than later to try lessen his load. But it's difficult to do this when guys like Pretorius and Hendricks are getting games for the Proteas.

Think he definitely has the tools to become an atg. Good pace, control, variations and gets enough movement to cause all sorts of trouble. Just needs to play enough to be able to judge him properly, I guess. Top 5 AT is an enormous call, but don't have much trouble expecting him to end up being regarded a great of the game.
I hope that happens rather than him ending up like Bond, Bruce Reid or even Patto. As someone else said, his action looks like it should cause injury problems, but I don't know if that's the case, biomechanically. I was surprised when he hurt his back - I genuinely thought if he was going to have problems it'd be with his shoulder.

It will be interesting to see if Bumrah is ever forced to change his action as he gets older to avoid injury and if so, to what extent, and how effective he can remain if he does.

Bumrah could be the most frustrating bowler since Bond, or he could be the ATG quick that India has always wanted. Or he could become a Tremlett and lose 10 kph after coming back from injury and we could consider him a flash in the pan. All things are possible at this stage but I'm hoping it'll the the ATG option. The battles with a Cummins-lead Australia over the coming years could be epic.

I'll be really interested to see when Bumrah's challenged (go wicketless in an innings/test) and how he'll respond. He's a fantastic bowler and is able to both adapt and plan dismissals, but like all bowlers he'll have a few quiet tests here or there. Reckon that's he's mentally so strong it won't faze him
Unbelievable that Cummins missed 5 years like he did, has still taken 143 wkts @ 21 from 30 tests and still likely ends up in ATG discussions with near 400+ wickets. He's also still only 26....
If he didn't get injured it's likely he'd have probably played 80-90 tests by now and would have likely to have been on approx 350+ test wickets.
He'd of been a legitimate chance to break whatever record Anderson leaves behind.
He's completely rebuilt himself as a bowler, he's the closest thing to McGrath in the last 20 years, except for the man himself..... relentless line and length and probably the best "cricket brain" in a bowler in world cricket at the moment. He just works batsmen over.

Few years ago he was seen as an IPL/T20 specialist by Indian fans, the idea of him playing tests was non existent with that strange action. If he can transition into a test player like David Warner from T20s, he won't find it too difficult to bowl in Asia.

Cummins feels underrated because he is not playing for a world champion side under Waugh/Ponting. From an unbiased view there might be not much difference between Cummins and McGrath.
Most top draw quicks had a patch where they were compable to Mcgrath at his peak (or better than him), as well as a number of merely good bowlers. The difference lies in how long Mcgrath did it for.
If Cummins keeps these standards up while playing to Mcgraths age I would have no problem rating him the better bowler by some distance. But he won't.
