Opportunity to something special for our lads today. We haven't made the finals since 1998 and semis since 2012. Bangladesh is quite strong, probably the second best team in the tourney but we've beaten then on the warm up. Here's hoping it's a close game and our lads close it.

Problem with bd is that we have not been tested yet. Whereas NZ pulled victories from tough situations against Sri lanka and WI. Momentum with NZ. This should be a good game. Could be low scoring given the conditions.

Loving Shoriful bowling, good tall bowler. Hits the deck with upright seam and getting good bounce. Good sight for BD supporters surely.

Why is BD bowling a spinner at the other end, it seems to have rained last night and there is good purchase for faster bowlers. That said he has picked a wicket and bowling well but just curious if BD doesn't have another good fast bowler.

Sakib is there who sometimes tries a bit too hard but I guess BD being BD and had to open with spin

Ollie White goes after having played some strange shots rather than play like he did in the past. Plenty of swing and misses, walk down the track and throw the bat at it. He took a schimmy down leg side and edged to the wicket keeper. Not good. Kippax proving right here. Lad is still a bit green. I thought he can bat very well.

First time I've watched a live match this tournament. NZ in a bit of hole, assume they think 200 or even slightly less might be defendable on this wicket - dismiss the best couple of opposition batsmen and seemingly anything can happen in U19s.

Decent catch there.

Yes they might pay dearly for only having one out of their two centurions against Bangladesh U19 (Lellman, not Zohrab) on tour, in the end. Zohrab had a fairly gutsy and pugnacious vibe, from having a nearly equally good twin brother to have his daily after-school scraps with.

"Ollie White was losing concentration, not understanding there's a long way to go in this innings" - Tom Moody

Wait, you're saying an ND ballstriking youth went with the chancy 40-ball cameo, rather than having the Worker or Conway anchoring knock in him? Certainly not too surprised to hear that.

Feel slightly sorry for O White tbh - he's done so poorly that every other person will think it was nepotism, even if it wasn't. That said, surely Vishvaka would've done better.

If we select both Zohrabs can we refer to them as The Zohrab? Yes imo. Has an alien menace, like the Zerg or the Zygons.

He's not a bad bat when he plays positively but he's played some reckless cricket. He didn't deserve a spot ahead of Vishvaka as for runs are concerned but the lad can bat. It's going to be tough for him given his dad is the CEO of NZC unless he can pull up numbers like Williamson. Till that point in time he'll not escape scrutiny. Doesn't help him he's picked based on below 20 average in national tournaments and didn't do any good in the U19 one day internationals.

On a related note how did David White end up playing over 100 first class games averaging below 30 and about 44 List A averaging below 20?

Have to say despite us getting to semis this time around the batting in this age group is quite bare. Last time around we had Ravindra, Allen, K Clarke and Bhula, quality batters. 2016 edition Glenn Phillips, Ravindra, Allen, Clarkson, Josh Finnie, Leopard all good enough for domestic cricket and beyond. This edition we have the results but I can't quite say anyone's impressed me with the bat.

I was impressed by Wheeler-Greenall in the quadrangular tournament, good to see him attacking here. Also, so good to have this on Sky. I remember the 98 tournament final was just on Radio Sport.
