Check out most of the averages of the era.

More concerning is that he got a gig for NZ.

I think BWG might have the goods among this lot. And Tashkoff, and maybe Mariu. I don't see a lot in the rest.

Yeah, he follows Corey Anderson as a 17 yr old scoring a half-century in an under 19 WC semi-final for NZ. A nice piece about his innings and football background.

Ten New Zealand players came out to bat in the semi-final against Bangladesh. Nine of them combined to score 122 runs in 218 deliveries at a strike rate of 55.96. The tenth, Beckham Wheeler-Greenall, scored 75 at a strike rate of 90.36.
...
One of Beckham's most famous goals is from the halfway line against Wimbledon. Wheeler-Greenall's most memorable moment from the football pitch, too, is a half-line goal he scored for his Dunedin-based high school during the quarter-final of the country's youth championships. For New Zealand, Wheeler-Greenall wears jersey No. 23. Beckham had the same digits at Real Madrid and LA Galaxy.

Interesting to hear Ashok may've had that much junk in him between the gems for those watching full spells.

West Indies obviously had his measure in a quite resounding way, but achieving some nice wicket quality (middle-order players trying to defend) in a spell that helped win a game against Sri Lanka was quite a promising sign, also a first of two possible U19 World Cups for him. Certainly the one age group player spoken about in revered tones by his peers would be Ashok, but weighted into that assessment could also be how few local kids have that sharpness of eye to pick his deliveries well and marry it with a nimble lightness in their footwork.

There could be some of that 'Kiwis feel more comfortable scoffing at their non-exotic new cricketers, they'll look for that bungling-yet-funny Jimmy Neesham and Ben Horne role in them, rather than the piety to the craft of a Hadlee' sort of aspect to it, as well.

It's getting to where the parent on the sideline or the NZ journalist is just starting to assume it'll be the devotion of the Indian New Zealander or the scrupulousness of the South African who has the truly insatiable desire for wickets and runs, and the non-exotic is played down as a bit of a bungler and a scruff.

Blame it on Kane, Rosco, Guppy etc... We have changed the goal post from McMillan, Matt Horne, Andrew Jones etc. I'd definitely want to see the good old gritty batting or Doull like bowling. Relentless but we haven't got one in the recent years. Henry Nicholls comes close to the past era. Technique and shot making now has likely become more important. Now with three formats and T20 win in a domestic comp viewed by some as the pinnacle we are used to exotic shot making. Don't think it is going to change I'm afraid. I know of many first class players would rather be on the T20 bandwagon.

Remember cricket is still an art for some, like me. I'd rather pay to watch Kane score 20 than Henry 75.

Disapointing to see the third place playoff game between Pakistan v NZ has been rained out. Was looking forward to seeing the team in action one last time.

Vijay Zol's domestic career hasn't really kicked off yet, has it.

Ominous partnership here. These two have batted very sensibly and not let the low RR get to them. Solid platform set for a big score

As I type, Jaiswal deposits Sakib for a six...

No idea how fast these kids score or how the pitch is going to play later so idk what the par score is.

But 200+ might be enough if the pitch continues to assist spin more.

Big wicket. Jaiswal was playing so well.

Been a mostly excellent bowling effort from BD so far.

Shoriful's celebration there was massively dickish tho. Hope he gets pulled up on that.

Let's see what India's lower-middle order can manage here. If BD can keep this to 200 or below, they're in with a solid chance. Expecting India to get somewhere around that magical 230 number tho.
