Was hoping for a maiden hundred for Blundell; shucks. Nevertheless, a very fine innings and partnership with Neesh.
Staggering to think he has no List A hundred as yet and he averages under 25 @ strike rate of 80. Too good a player to not have put more numbers on the board.

Hmm batted five and a half hours in the end, just six fours and 108*. Even at 12, he was known for making his knocks a bit more of a marathon than most, then would dig in for consecutive tons in the next game. A product of that Te Puna academy (formerly Ben Williams') in Tauranga where KW and Boult would spend a bit of time.

Great read, we can do with few more Kane. Even one more would be great.

good to see blundell scoring runs, even if it's in a different format to the upcoming tests. im interested to see how he goes opening in conditions where it's not just all about pace and bounce. his plan in australia was executed well.

blundell
latham
kane
ross
nicholls
watling
cdg
wagner
ajaz
ferguson
boult

idgaf about the tail. well actually i do a lot but not enough to pick a spud like santner or southee. bloody tastle retired when it was his moment. would have southee, bennett and will young complete the squad. the above will never happen though because larsen and stead will want a specialist #8 batsman and be too scared to pick ferguson.

my nz A or second xi is

raval
rachin
conway
young
phillips
neesham
cleaver (wk)
southee (c)
jamieson
somerville
bennett

seifert, rutherford, tickner, kuggs, sears swapping into that team in reality when guys are running drinks for the test players ofc.

atg name bayley wiggins is doing well. attractive boundaries.

i really really want him to do well and play for nz with that name.

brook hatwell, who im sure used to get a run as fc opener, is batting at #7 in the hawke cup and is on 50* off 242 balls. i see that bettelheim kid tonned up in the first innings.

hang on that game is at galloway. i might go have a look after lunch.

Doug back for CD.

I'll be following him again like when he was a 20 year old. Our bowling depth ....

Missed you when you weren't here.

Jeet back among runs, he must be so relieved. He didn't appear in any games including the NZ A games before playing England which he must be ruing now. Wonder if he can ever come back, he's definitely not a bad bat.Just had a bad phase unfortunately at the wrong time.

50 up for Clarke. Seems like an impressive young player after seeing (limited) highlights of his innings for ND this year.

Was hoping to go and watch some of the Canterbury game but it looks like a snooze fest right now.

Good performance from Ben Lister today. His domestic record is actually pretty good to date. Is he one of the better quick bowlers in the mid 20's age-group? Meanwhile another 50 for Conway......

I'm the opposite of a #paceslut, but Lister literally bowls 122kph. Unfortunately he in no way looks like an international bowler.

Firebirds this year has been amazing across all formats. They have lost a lot of players to Black Caps and NZ A but the performance continues to scale particularly at home. Conway yet again a good 100. Watched fair bit of Firebirds batting this afternoon. CD very poor catching, dropped Fletcher in the slips twice and an absolute sitter dropped by Ajaz. I now get it why Ajaz cannot make it to white ball for Black caps ever. Sorry to say this but Fetcher's 50 was one of the worst I've watched live. Luke Georgeson, the lad that played for NZ U19 in 2018 opened the batting. Was beaten many times but did all right to see off the new ball. He was batting at no.8 for NZ U19s and bowled a bit.

Correction Ajaz dropped Conway when he was probably on 2 or 3 runs. That was a very costly drop.

At Cobham Oval for 2nd half of both innings. A slow pitch.

For ND Bocock was busy, reverse sweeps etc. Hampton played well, doesn't have a wide range of shots but was patient, and hits a long straight drive. Walker make an ugly but important 25 to lift ND above 200.

For Auckland Finn Allen looked good until picking the wrong ball to attack. The rest of the middle order were too tentative. Jake Gibson was tidy on debut and hit the sticks with a couple that kept low.

Also, met Finn Allen's dad. After some blahs blahs about the game we were watching, I also said there was a internet forum of geeks that discuss cricket seriously and that we are disappointed that Finn did not get much pre-Christmas game time for Auckland. Did I cross a line?

I'm sure he'll appreciate the support. I think he's Downer's CEO. Pretty loaded bloke. Literally runs a club with his money in Auckland I've heard.

Ajaz (the fielder) was the sloppy pressure-relieving player he gave a bad feeling to today.

I'm not sure what country Ray Toole thought he was in, trying to hit a tidy line and length and getting a bit of movement. I'd prefer everyone was reaching for the stars, like sneaky quick Hazeldine was in the Conway 327*.
