I'm still not used to this opening partnership of over 50... that is something that only happened to other teams surely!

Last time an England opening pair hit 50+ in consecutive innings was Cook and Jennings in India in 2016.

I certainly would have taken that at the start of the day despite the wobble. About as good as you can expect from this top three, Stokes the only major disappointment, and then the Root-Pope partnership looking pretty legit.
