not often you say that starc and cummins are the reason we lose a game, but certainly the case today

Quite a satisfying series win considering the shellacking of the first game. Good character from India to bounce back from that.

Excellent.

Feel bad for Smith who batted brilliantly for someone who's the 4th best batsman in the match.

Still think these two teams are extremely evenly matched. Not in the sense that every match they play will be a humdinger, but that they're both very good teams who don't give the opposition a chance once they get on top. The last few ODI series they've played has been a fair reflection of that trend.

Fair to say Aus lost because of Finch and Warner not working imo
i mean they were a bit short but 290 definitely is a defendable score with this attack tbh. not much point to this team if it isn't, as good as it is.

Australia don’t need to do much imo. Depending on the pitch one of Agar and Zampa can sit out for Richardson (of the Jhye variety). Turner will probably get another crack but I doubt he’s the answer. They need a big hitter like David in there.

Whatever it takes!!!
Smith was excellent but there is a lot of truth to what harsh said at the end of that innings. It was a proper Sachin knock. In the sense that, he held the innings together and got a score but it felt the same when he used to get us to 260s and 270s and then we watch that score not being good enough with the opposition's batting strength. I felt in those days that maybe Sachin could have gone for it a bit more, he may have scored a few runs less but we could have won a few more games (even assuming the gamles he opened out earlier went 50-50 for us) instead of being a sure loss. Smith's knock was similar. I understand him slowing down after the Carey wicket but slowing down when batting in the company of both Labuschagne and Carey, I felt he could have tried at least one big shot every third over and try to take the game by the scruff of the neck a bit more.

smith is never really going to be that sort of batsman though. it's just not how he bats.

Since when did India become so bad vs spin ? We can't even hit out Zampa and Agar on a flat pitch. No wonder Lyon runs through our batting line up. I think of all the current Indian batsman, Mayank Agarwal has best attacking game vs spin .

Even a sticky bangalore wicket is something you can hit lots of sixes on. It is the factor that captains should always consider. If your good balls cannot get you wickets and batsmen manage to hang around, there are a lot of sixes to be hit. Shami, Bumrah and Saini and their yorkers, as well as the way the spinners kept Smith under the lid may well have been the matchwinners for India.
