Australian Domestic Season 2019/20

aussie tragic

International Captain
I just read this about Glenn Maxwell

"The*Herald Sun*reported that the 31-year-old made himself available for selection for Victoria’s Sheffield Shield match against Western Australia, but did not make the final team."

Is this true? I can't believe Maxwell wouldn't be picked in the top 6 bats for Vics if medically cleared

Red

The normal awards that everyone else has
Remember when Victoria whinged about the SCG pitch, had a match abandoned and secured full points for doing so? Now the most over rated stadium in world sport dishes up that **** and the teams split the available points evenly. What a joke. The same side which batted on to a thousand then bitched when the opposition didn't declare 150 odd behind.

Just the scum of the earth, Victorians. The MCG is just a microcosm of Melbourne itself - generally flat and lifeless, but when it goes the other way it tries too hard and has to be pulled into line. have said it before - the joint thinks its Paris, when it's really Ballarat with lane ways. Almost as bad as Brisbane.
Hey....dont you be dissing Ballarat.

State Captain
Shield Round 6 - A lopsided season this year with only 4 games after the new year

NSW steamrolled the Qld pretenders, SA won their first game of the season with the Tassie bats unable to put up a decent score aginst the SA pacers. A debacle at the MCG, the game being called a draw and the points split after inconsistent bounce due to moisture in the pitch was deemed dangerous.

NSW on top with 5 wins out of 6 Sandgropers, 2 wins and 3 draws, a fraction of a point in front of the Bananabenders, 3 wins and one draw. The Croweaters have jumped Tassie for 4th, The Vics still winless but with 3 draws.

Star of the round was Weatherald with 126, Henriques with 116, Millenko with an end of innings 100 with 4 sixers, McDermott with 89, Neville with 88no and Abbott with 86. Harry Conway 5/15 from 15 overs was best with the ball while WAgar continued his good season with 5/53 in the Tas second innings to go with 3/68 in the first.

Qld, Street 281, Labuschagne 260

Smarsh only got in one innings but now has an impressive 600 runs,
Cooper didnt play this round
These two still the only batsmen over 500 runs

Weatherald now up 5th overall and Henriques now 6th

Street the leading Qlder but is 18th overall with Labuschagne 23rd.

Vics didnt get a hit this round.

WA Kelly 13,Stoinis 12

Former leader Gannon not picked for this round.
The big mover is WAgar, having overtaken Sayers for SA and is now up to third overall, his average of 21.3 just behind Gannons 20.7

Conway has overtaken Starc for the Bluebaggers

WA's Kelly is 14th on the overall list but he didnt get a bowl this round.

Siddle's 3 wickets in the drawn game are counted.

Stumpers (ct/st - runs@ave)

NSW Neville 21/2 301@50.1
Qld Pierson 20/- 251@31.4
WA Inglis 17/- 286@31.7
Tas Doran 16/- 135@27.0 (3 games)
SA Carey 10/- 386@55.1 (4 games)
Vic Harper 12/1 158@22.6

Not much news on the dismissals front but a good game with bat for Neville 88no, Carey continued his good batting form with 73 in the first innings.

Carey now 8th overall runscorer, Neville 14th

Twirley men

O'Keefe 14@18, Swepson 12@27, Lyon 7@36, Holland 8@59, Labuschagne 4@26, T.Andrews 4@110, Maxwell 3@75.7,A.Zampa 3@88, A.Agar 3@136

Massive shout out to Bert, who made 166 not out today, two days after his mum’s funeral. Phenomenal exercise in mental and emotional strength, and compartmentalisation.

Tim Ward another ton - six out of ten in two day matches since returning from shoulder surgery.

I was mistaken re Wardy - it's six tons out of nine two day games. He had a dip in second XI last round and made 80 and 40 odd. He's only 22 or so, so a good prospect, but it's hard to get a gig at the best of time.

Blast from the past with Dan Smith getting Sydney home in the First grade T20 final at Drummoyne yesterday. Made 80 odd from about 45 balls. Still paunchy, still punching.

Got named in a Triple M all-time XI of Aussie fat blokes tonight as well. Everything's coming up Dan Smith.

Yeah that could be seen as a positive and a negative tbf

my favourite Dan Smith quote: when ING cup/Ford Ranger Cup/whatever was on channel 9, the new batsmen would have their stats up on screen. One of the categories was "hobbies", Dan Smith's hobby was "McNuggets"

What a man

Also, 9-34 for Blake Edwards in Brisbane grade, looked a real handful to face from the footage I saw. Hope he gets more opportunities for Queensland this season
