Hick really stuggled in 91 and 92 with Ambrose/Walsh, then Wasim and Waqar touring. He actually got a 50 in the second test in the 93 Ashes but was axed before being recalled for the final test and scored 80. Once he shortened his backlift he had a couple of good test seasons, but the English selectors in the 90's discarded him far too quickly. Fletcher said he would have always been in the team if he'd been coach.Always thought Hooper was very much like Mark Waugh in that they were the most fluent and beautiful batsmen to watch who made it look so easy, but that type of batting doesn't always coincide with big test averages at the end of your career.
Hick had a massive disparity between his FC record and his test record. One who couldn't handle the step up. And Merv completely ****ed with his mind.
Mitch Marsh should have had a lot more rope at odi level. He was genuinely a very good striker of the ball late in the innings and didn't need to play himself in for as long as Stoinis did.As much as MMarsh cops a hell of a lot if criticism for his Test career, myself included, he's a genuinely underrated ODI cricketer. If he was fully fit to bowl as well as bat he should be in the squad
wasn't glorious at all
He did have a good two year run where he averaged 60 with the bat.I don't have my colour swatches handy, but I'd say it was more mauve than purple.
Executive decision made by the team's photographer?Ganguly definitely sits between Hayden and Nasser Hussain as a batsman. Interpret that however you like
It's another Aussie versus Indian 'debate'.Who was the better international batsman for you and the match winner.
