Yes Pollard or Colson will be cut for Blundell now, but I'd really prefer it was Bracewell who got chopped. Very disappointed with your tip for Bracewell to be booming it in this campaign. :p

Becoming a bit of an embarrassing bumpkin on the Firebirds roster, right at a time when we're hopeful of showing the rest of the country how attractive batting is done. Boxing Day Test centurions, ruthless stamina knocks from South Africans, Ravindra patchy overall but with the big 130 against Ferguson, yet at No. 4 it's a journeyman from Otago. Doesn't quite seem right. I guess he may not even be taken back with great keenness due to Kelly and Foxcroft's success. Maybe when Broom retires he could look into skulking off back home for me.
Your assessment is not wrong but mine has been. I saw Bracewell smash it all over the park in the Wellington premier league. From what I know Pollard won a place in the lineup solely based on how he went in the wellington premier league. Bracewell was really good last year, he was one of the top run scorers in the country. Not sure why he ended up in the middle order. Maybe his lack of form in 4 day and one day format has seeped into this format as well. I still believe he can play one or two good inning, hopefully in the finals.

Ravindra has disappointed to a certain extent with the bat in super smash. Saw him bat on many occasions and he is one guy that is finding the middle of the bat from ball one but hasn't kicked on. Looks in mint form but gets out very soft. His bowling has come along massively.

Fraser Colson and Jamie Gibson have been quite good in fact. Not sure why Malcolm Nofal didn't play. Perhaps injured otherwise he's a rock at no.6 Tom Blundell being added is a massive plus.

He's never greatly impressed in his time in Wellington, it has to be said. Not quite sure how he made captain, but I guess it was when most of dad's army were heading off into the sunset, and he was one of the few experienced batsmen remaining.

Very poor way to lose a game, even the final few balls, getting caught in the outfield in that situation - so dumb! Hopefully they can seal their home final on Sunday, though ... will be the first match of the season I'll manage to make it to!
Rather than Younghusband go for a big in the penultimate ball if he tapped a single or two they could have tied the game which meant they will have topped the table. Don't think they understood that equation and went for the broke.

Yes a shame about sensible Nofal's 95 SR in the format. If it were maybe 25 higher than that, he'd be my ideal junior partner for his great mate Conway.

I didn't quite get why the commentators were saying that about the tie ... are there no super overs in the super smash anymore?

But yes, he'd have been much better keeping the shot along the ground, either way.

What's with the Aces this year? They can't seem to consistently win on home turf either. Guptill, Munro, McClenaghan, Hira, Phillips, Chapman, Anderson and Jamieson. All current, past or future black caps but can't win much. Like other sides have been giving some of their youth a go Aces have to give Finn Allen a go. The lad has been scoring heaps at club and A level. Don't know why he has not had a go this year. I can understand if they were winning but they aren't consistently winning either. Doesn't it make sense to at least develop up and coming players?

Jamieson's only played 3 games.

McClenaghan, Hira, Sommerville, Lister, Solia, Chapman, etc. isn't the greatest roster of bowlers in the comp, tbf.

All Auckland junior development officers wanted was to see Fuller and Quinn grow, to make like the Snow Patrol lyrics and take a glorious bite out of the whole world. But unlike Matt Henry or Jeets, they're too fragile or just generally too insipid to take big glorious bites.

Volts need 140 to beat the Stags. Get this and they are still a chance of qualifying top. They'll need to beat Canterbury and have Auckland beat Wellington.

Awesome to see those 2 great Sri Lankans in the rugby XI. Rugby is actually very popular in Sri Lanka but their body size means they are not very good at it.

Bad news for the Curtis Millard cult. He's been scoffed at as mere reserve grade material by his Burnside West club. Still nicking out top-orders and putting his hand up though, including a 4/12 in a T20 three weeks ago against 'The Scrapheap'.

How good are the Blaze in the women's comp this year? About to make it 10 wins from 10 games - dominant.

Their bowling is incredibly good--all their 5 main bowlers have more wickets this season than anyone else.
