*Official* England in South Africa 2019/20

Disappointing for South Africa but not unexpected. Pretorius has a batting average just as misleading as the bowling average and there is no way he is a test number 7. He also has that stiff idiot style which de Bruyn and Mitch Marsh champions which is going to cause you issues on these types of wickets.
Ideal world, Faf bats 5 and de Kock is at 7 but both are batting too high as there is no other viable candidates. Malan is another Kuhn and van der Dussen, despite the two half centuries, you can’t see much of a future with. He has looked very vulnerable against the seamers and he is limited against spin. There is no way Faf wouldn’t have climbed into Bess and Bess getting through nearly 30 overs for no real damage is remarkable considering the lack of purchase he was getting and overall inexperience.

After a day of batting Firdose has already pulled THAT card.

Fascinating.
Try reading Telford Vice's article on Cricbuzz. Bavuma doesn’t need these type of people fighting the fight.
He has been dropped, as were the likes of AB and Amla, and been asked to score runs in a domestic scene where JJ Smuts is one of the leading wicket takers.

I hadn't seen it, god it's a bad piece.

Just reeks with insinuations and indirect assertions without any sort of weight to it. No talk of the cricket, just purely exploiting a bad day without even using it in distinct terms as confirmation bias. If SA's media power couple couldn't be sued for defamation I wonder what these articles would really look like.

Whatever it takes!!!
How is it lucky when you inside edge the ball to your pad and you are given LBW and you review it? What must Moonda be smoking to even justify putting such vomit to the screen?

Yeah BS article. Another case where the batsman who makes a decent score has more opportunities to be lucky and gets talked about more negatively then the guys who failed.

Fact is vd Dussen batted with experienced Test bats on Day 2 of a match with time on his side. 2 50s in 3 innings has been a good start.

Haha that's not really what caused her to write the article tbf. She would've written an article bagging him unless he notched him a chanceless ton. Her agenda is extremely clear.

Why would Bavuma be called for if Rassie fails anyway? I guess Rudi always comes Second.

Oh Im aware of her motives but the whole theme of the article was around his nine lives.

Just annoys me in general (the point I made previously) as vd Dussen obviously showed more compared to Malan.

Love these first innings 200-300 games.

Yeah if it were Dobell or another correspondant from another country, that article would have been about how Rassie made the most of his lives, doesn't look comfortable yet but can knuckle down and has the temperament for the whole gig.

As Fredfertang says though, every silver lining has a cloud.

Can someone pls explain why Anderson did not complete his over before stumps, day two?
When you take a wicket close to the end of the day's play, the players just come off and the over gets finished the following morning.

Yes Jimmy.

I’m trying to approach this whole 4 day Teat Match thing with an open mind. What effect would it have on this match, if at all? I guess England would try to score quicker in the 3rd innings to allow enough time to bowl? But wouldn’t this increase chances of a draw? SA could slow the game down if they weren’t getting wickets, England could delay the declaration if batting well out of fear of giving them a gettable target. Isn’t it all a bit contrived anyway?

This is set up as a classic Test Match. It may well finish inside 4 days, but I can’t see how reducing the match to 4 days would make it more exciting, it might even spoil it.

Jimmy loves Cape Town. 17 years ago since he did Pakistan under lights.

Anderson really is a fine wine. The skill never diminishes. Poor from South Africa, but with this batting line up I don't think anyone is surprised.
