*Official* England in South Africa 2019/20

A combination of Xmas with the in-laws in France, work and a trip to Welford Road to watch Leicester Tigers yesterday have meant this is the first extended watch of the series for me.

Has QdK been up to big Vern much? Looks a slight waste of a bloke who seemingly gets it to nibble about on glass, because I can't see many edges being taken.

QDK comes up frequently to Philander as the ball gets older and batsmen start batting out of their crease. Seems to do the job well.

He’s not done it a massive amount this series because of England’s batting lineup has been very obliging with their catching practice for him to dive across Rassie.

I think this is a direct response to Denly batting outside of his crease to pull him back.

I saw him standing up to him in the first test too
Yeah, I can only recall him doing it to Denly at Centurion though.

Changing the subject entirely, I wonder how long it would take to get paralytic if you had a drinking game every time KP said “intent”?

So both these batsmen are going at slower rates than Rassie yesterday, hearing how wonderful they batting and all this intent shown. And still hearing about how slow Rassie batted yesterday.

I think this is one of those pitches that have slowed and difficult to score runs but also difficult to get wickets once batsmen is set. Balls not doing that much.

Liver transplant by the fourth test, I reckon.

Just heard Nicholas use it too. It's obviously catching. Other adjectives are available.

Ntini was dreadful from what little I remember of him. Does Robin Jackman still do commentary on SA games? He used to be really good.

Nah, usually the Saffer comms are Smith (imagine he's no longer there because of his new job), Pollock, KP, Ntini, Holding and Nicholas + guests.

Ntini has calmed down so if he is on with someone decent is fine. Looks like KP has been brought in as a replacement for Smith, and ****ed any balance up.

Smith was quite good, and Pollock was bland, but OK. KP, Ntini, Haysman - dire.

How nice is it that we're not constantly 30/3 at the minute? Feels like a long time since we've had a top 3 who want to try to occupy the crease for a decent amount of time.

Shot. Rank half tracker, but Sibley put it away nicely.
Whisper it, but starting to look like he belongs. It’s nearly time for Denly to give it away so will be important for Dom to bat deep here, which he’s shown he can do in the domestic game.
