Has to be chanders. I think dravid and ab will be higher. They both had amazing peaks and much better away records.Chappell is one I struggle to rate.
Dravid, ABDV, and Waugh presumably up soon.
Yes he did. WSC also had SuperTests in the West Indies.....Greg Chappell is batting version of Ravindra Jadeja. As I have said earlier on this forum , he didn't face quality spin bowling in Asia , never faced WI pace quartet in WI.
I don't give much weightage to his WSC record because it was played in AUS. I have no doubt that all of Sehwag, Hayden ,Ashwin , Jadeja, Warner , Anderson or Jayawardene will dominate in WSC if it were played in their home countries.
He faced Marshall and Garner in WI . That is a news to me. Scorecard please.Yes he did. WSC also had SuperTests in the West Indies.....
What an awful, ignorant post.Greg Chappell is batting version of Ravindra Jadeja. As I have said earlier on this forum , he didn't face quality spin bowling in Asia , never faced WI pace quartet in WI.

Marshall isn't a member of the classic Windies quartet. He faced Marshall and Garner in WI . That is a news to me. Scorecard please.
Sometimes truth is awful and ignorant. He scored total 450 runs in Asia and 235 of those were in match in which neither Imran nor Qadir played. Other 66 runs were in SL.What an awful, ignorant post.
Marshall to WI bowling was like McGrath to Aus bowling. If you performed well against ATG WI/ AUS team then bowling attack must contain these 2 players imo.Marshall isn't a member of the classic Windies quartet.
Truth, unlike your earlier post, is by definition incapable of ignorance. Though it can, like said post, be truly awful.Sometimes truth is awful and ignorant. He scored total 450 runs in Asia and 235 of those were in match in which neither Imran nor Qadir played. Other 66 runs were in SL.
Sorry but I don't rate him as high as many in CW do. He simply wasn't tested enough against quality spinners in Asia. Just like Jadeja's bowling average his batting average is inflated.
This is like saying Hashim Amla isn't an ATG because he didn't score runs against McGrath because he didn't play him.Marshall to WI bowling was like McGrath to Aus bowling. If you performed well against ATG WI/ AUS team then bowling attack must contain these 2 players imo.
So therefore he gets marked down because Marshall wasn’t picked to play against him, or hadn’t come along yet?Marshall to WI bowling was like McGrath to Aus bowling. If you performed well against ATG WI/ AUS team then bowling attack must contain these 2 players imo.
But if you said Amla did well against AUS team of 90s/2000s then that bowling attack must contain McGrath. This is like saying Hashim Amla isn't an ATG because he didn't score runs against McGrath because he didn't play him.
Greg Chappell retired in 84. Marshall had peaked in 83. So it is not comparable logic. Also he played only 5 test in WI and averaged 48 . He played very few tests in lots of countries. I don't know how scheduling worked then . But he played only 9 test in Asia + WI . So my problem with rating him is small sample size in many countries. He belongs in top 30 test batsman but he certainly shouldn't be in top 20 discussion imo. I rate every batsman who are yet to come in this countdown ahead of him except Chanderpaul.Chappell isn’t my favourite Australian player at all, and there are reasons I don’t rate him as highly, which I’ve been through before. But this is just junk logic.
I mean, I mark gavaskar’s record down here because he never did well against a decent attack here, but Fmd I don’t mark him down because he retired before McGrath came along (McGrath would have owned him, of course, but that’s not the point here).
