Pretorius & Nortje have a big act to follow.

Root and Denly look up for the battle.

Test cricket.

England would take this. New ball seen off and runs will be scored against Nortje. Won’t be long until the spinner is on.

Nortje has a threat about him. Right now probably too many 4-balls or balls not bowled to the field in between.

His speed is impressive. But I do thik his lack of movement of the pitch or through the air is very problematic. Speed at club/franchise level is scary. At international level without movement much less so. Makes me wish Dupavillon was not so injury prone, should have been playing in front of Nortje,

Big job for Maharaj.

Yeah the position of the match is ok really. Just got to get through the spells from the big 2 straight after lunch without any/much damage.

Agreed 100%

Tough to make the gut-call right now because he deserves more opportunity but the lack of skill could easily be a Viljoen, de Lange. If he was another Nantie Hayward I could take it but you always hope for more.

Well played from Eng this session.

Can see the differrence yesterday and today. England bowling was not any where near as good as SA's but SA gifted wickets. Root and Denly really batted well. All the wickets where from quality balls rather than poor shots. That dropped catch was not good.

Whatever it takes!!!
Game can unravel fast in these conditions though. India were 50/0 in the first test V England in 2018 after a similar first innings score from England. Then Sam Curran happened, with the ball.
