Had we batted first, we would have been bowling late in the third session.
Can't fault Kane for bowling first, it was the right decision. We just didn't make use of the helpful conditions early on - Aus would have and we would have been rolled for under 200 and out of the Test on day 1.
We just need to realize we're not good enough to compete with this Aussie team in these conditions. Most teams roll over and get thumped here.
India are probably the only team who can challenge them there, they have the batting and bowlers.
Nice to see a sensible and realistic NZ fan on here for onceProbably because we've played a lot of cricket against bad teams since then.
That's probably deliberate in a T20.Those 'highlights' they're showing of Swepson's T20I, when talking about his SCG call up, are not very flattering. His wicket balls pitched shorted than Wagner's stock ball.
You're being very generous.That's probably deliberate in a T20.
You should basically never bowl first in Australia unless it’s in HobartTrue, but I just thought being down in the series and having a chance of putting scoreboard pressure on Australia
If it is 1-0 or 1-1 I wouldnt play him, but 2-0, maybe. The interesting thing to do would be to drop Wade and move everyone up one spot. Having an extra bowler for Sydney is always more likely with the shorter turnaround and now likely bowling Day 5.Swepson shouldn’t get a game unless it’s 1985. Even then Dutchy Holland and Murray Bennett would **** on him. And they were no good.
Haha, hang the witch!Wait, I just saw the Smith handled the ball incident. Why didn't NZ appeal? That's 100% out under the law.

He doesn't even have to do that much to have Warne like him. Just not be a worthless finger spinner. I swear Warne was even shilling for James Muirhead at various points.omf as if they’re gonna play swepson, i made a post before this test warning nz not to fall for the two spinners at the scg trap but it’s our selectors choosing to look like dickheads here... and swepson too, who’s only a thing because he has incriminating pictures of warne stashed somewhere in a basement lmao
good day for australia but far from over, few partnerships could swing it and a draw even would give some hope to the nz boys after that first test... been out for both days so i’ve only be able to see highlights but by and large how is the pitch playing?
I mean this is pretty obvious; the pace off the pitch is roughly the pace of the ball when you actually hit it. But all other things being equal, and generally all other things are roughly equal, the faster it comes out of the bowler's hand the faster it'll be when it hits the bat too.One theory I've had - do we overrate the speedgun? I remember vic_orthdox (not verbatim) saying that it's the pace off the pitch which is most relevant. I'd love to hear the batsman talk about facing Wagner as he gets so much lift from even dead surfaces
Also, if batsman are facing 140ks+ in training consistently and expecting that, to face a medium-fast bowler must take some adjusting? (i.e waiting for the ball, having to hold your shape more)
so the hypothesis here is that (assuming the same length) the speed of different bowlers out of the hand is not directly relative to the speed off the pitch? Sounds highly dubiousOne theory I've had - do we overrate the speedgun? I remember vic_orthdox (not verbatim) saying that it's the pace off the pitch which is most relevant.
