Whatever it takes!!!
Man, its one thing to debate over whether Santner should be in the XI but if you don't trust him for more than a dozen overs out of a 130 odd, you are better off playing an extra batsman there.

I'm a tad surprised Kane hasn't rolled his arm over - has he had problems with his action again?

Not Terrible
Boult unfortunately fairly undercooked this Test. Southee is doing his work here but just looks unthreatening in Australia. Wagner is gun. CDG doing well. Santner looks in utter shambles. The NZ contingent is always happy to pile on Santner but this is the worst hes ever looked in a Test match, can't get any rhythm going at all, part of that was due to Smith and Marnus going after him well already well set but really expected him to recover after that and he hasn't. Some signs in the second session today, but 5 sessions into an innings and any useful role is gone.

Australia should just bat until tomorrow and grind NZ down. Any (serious) talk of declaration is nonsense

A large part of his lack or rhythm is Williamson basically doing the captaincy equivalent of completely bbqing him. Smith and Labushagne went after him for one over. One. And Williamson ran up the white flag at the first sign of grape shot. Utterly gutless captaincy.
