Not much for us to celebrate in that session - the mighty CDG's average even went up over 30. :(
Gutted.

Just haven’t been able to take clusters of wickets in most of this series. Every time we get a wicket a decent new partnership develops.

Despite the negativity....still very optimistic about our red ball future. We've obviously got our bases covered at home. I feel we will do well in ENG too. Over there, our bowling has been potent more often than not and our batters have looked steadier too. Need to play a 3 match series to really stamp our case.

In Asia, we've got our bases covered too. With Rachin to come, we could have more options. Our batters have done well on the last tours of SL and UAE...and so have our bowlers. We know that Latham, Kane and Nicholls enjoy batting there. Ajaz and Somerville are going to be on the teamsheet. Our team selection hasn't been all that conservative over there. We've yet to knock over SL, but if we played a 3 match series or another with 2 down the line, we will knock them over. Same goes for Bangladesh. India will be the monumental challenge. But main point is, we KNOW who to pick.

Our problem is the team selection for playing in South Africa and Australia, the players we pick show that we don't have enough faith in anyone not named Williamson or Taylor. That is why we pick a no.8 based on his run scoring lol. Our batting has mostly been piss poor against AUS and SA attacks on surfaces that help pace and bounce. Our bowling has been toothless too. Boult focuses too much on swing rather than hitting the deck hard at 140 like we know he can. Southee is just bleh. Wagner and CDG have been superb. We've also had horrible luck plague, such as injuries to Boult, Ferg. The main concern for me on these surfaces is, who is locked on the teamsheet? I only see KW, Ross, CDG, Wagner, Boult (if fully fit) and Ferg (if fully fit) being certain.

Southee was great in the first test.

Runs flowing. Our worst bowlers are on at the moment. Actually, I believe Kane has completely messed up bringing the right bowlers on after the breaks.

i had hoped southee turned a corner in perth

this pair are batting very well. they've quietly guided aus from solid 280 odd to what should become a game winning total at 450 odd

Had z feeling today would be a long one... And it is. Gonna be annoying when we're two down for nothing on what looks a docile wicket.
