Even among international players, when Head times one it sounds better than almost anyone else. Shades of Damien Martyn the way he goes about it.

Tough session for NZ there. Probably one of Paine’s best knocks here too. Went about it really well.

Head always had the temperament and the know-how for Tests. Just not maybe the footwork, but #6 is the best place for him to iron that out. Plus the way he bats is pretty well suited to #6.

The talk before the game that his position was under pressure was nuts; the bloke's barely had a meaningful hit all summer.

The one time he did he managed a 50 too. Think it was just a case of his meh Ashes and the lack of realistic chances otherwise (even Wade had a few semi-realistic chances to score runs)

Really felt when Wags got smith, we had a chance of rolling them under 360. Santner and Boult gave it away. Southee has just looked toothless like he usually does. He doesn't hit the deck hard at all. Wagner at 125 still pounds the deck. No real intent or passion from our bowlers. CDG is doing the swing bowling thing wayyyyy better.

Wade's spot should be in more doubt, although I certainly wouldn't be dropping him right now. I rate Kurtis Patterson highly, but he's injured unfortunately. Everybody else is either too young and raw or a bit of a hack
