*Official* New Zealand in Australia 2019/20

Australia really losing the plot. This will be great for NZ's bowling confidence in the final two tests, even if it doesn't have much impact in this match.

Southee has really mastered this whole 'save your best for when people don't want you in the XI' thing.

Having said that he's been mostly terrific in tests everywhere this year for someone down on pace.

If 2 out of Latham, Williamson, and Taylor go big (big if) this could be a fascinating day 5. Need to get these wickets and make Australia earn theirs.

Weird approach by australia. They should've been a bit more aggressive so even with a collapse they score quickly and take the target beyond achievable levels. Very similar to India's soy collapse against Cummins. They should still have more than enough but it gives NZ something positive to hold on to atleast.

Australia's plan is obviously to bat until night tomorrow and the batsmen have interpreted that as don't play any shots.
Thinking that Paine clearly had a 'stay in until such time' tactic going on yesterday, and in doing so they slowed to a crawl against quite innocuous bowling from Snantner and Ravel, and if you are right, the same thing is going on where we are bogging ourselves down a bit by not knowing how to tick the score over while passing time

Yeah, makes me think of Rocky having Apollo Creed on the ropes at the final bell even though he's obviously going to lose on points. A kind of moral victory for the bowlers at least.

Yeah it's pretty clear that the tactic has been "keep the kiwis out in the 40 degree heat as long as possible".

Problem is that it hasn't been demoralizing because they haven't gotten the runs.

Batting should be easier tomorrow during the day and Australia have firepower to take 10 wickets on a wearing day 4/5 pitch.

The ball is soft now and under lights it's still doing enough so I disagree with Ponting that the declaration should come overnight. Bat as long as possible tomorrow.

It's let New Zealand back in the game somewhat too. Tough wicket but the target is merely daunting rather than impossible and there's still lots of time left in the game.

Test reminding me a lot of the MCG test against India last year though.
The last Ashes Adelaide Test as well. Australia's 3rd innings there left England with a somewhat reachable, if very unrealistic target, though.

I wonder if the colourblind thing is happening with Wade. He was clearly not seeing the ball and we know that Rogers had issues with the pink ball. It's far harder for my eyes to pick up that either the white or red balls too.

I wish they'd made the ball orange or yellow instead.
