Playing at 4 or 5 for a strong team like Australia would have played a part, like we saw in the recent series.
That won't affect the "number of innings getting to X" though.

What it does show is that other players have made blazing starts to their careers (Hussey for example?) but it gets harder and harder to keep it up beyond 6K-7K runs. Or you have the likes of Sanga, Tendulkar, Kohli etc. who have a moderate start but go on a tear after they hit the 4-5K mark.

Actually even Smith had a moderate start. Smith only became the Smith we know now post Ashes 2013-14. Definitely in great company.

I was surprised to learn that Smith was never a clear second on the list of "innings to reach x000 runs" for any value of x. The closest he came was coming equal second with Sobers for 6000 runs.
Even more amazing that Sobers didn’t score a century until his 29th innings.

Smith needs 987 runs in 25 innings (39.48 rpi) to beat Sanga to 8k

It will, because as we saw in the Pak series, Smith went out playing uncharacteristic shots because we were already in such a strong position in the match, and he was playing aggressively to accelerate scoring. Whereas an opener (see Warner) has all the time in the world to build a huge innings.

Virat "freak" Kohli has scored 69 international hundreds this decade with a chance to improve it still. This is by far the most by any player in a single decade. Ricky Ponting comes next with 55 in the decade 2000-2009.

Who's taken the most 5-wicket hauls in a decade?
What's the best bowling SR in a 10-year period?

The first was an easy one. Murali had taken 57 five wicket hauls in 2000s. Nobody else had taken more than 41(Hadlee) in their whole career, let alone in a decade

Strike rate is a tricky one. It disproportionately favors players who play a lot of T20Is.
If you apply a minimum criteria of 400 wickets in a decade, Waqar of 1990s wins. 548 wickets at SR of 35.45. Steyn in 2010s comes next(450 wickets at SR of 37.61)

Rohit Sharma becomes the 3rd cricketer after Gayle and Afridi to hit 400 sixes in international cricket.

If he hits around 4 sixes a month(which is kind of easily expected from him), he should break Gayle's record of 534 in 3 years.

He hits 4 sixes in half an hour as I speak:)

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are now locked for the maximum runs scored by a player(2633) in T20Is. Has this ever happened in any format ?

Whatever it takes!!!
Yeah 600 6s is a realistic possibility for him, now that he is playing all formats. Those 5 tests against England could open the floodgates for him in tests too.

Pffft, that's nothing, Border did it twice in the same match ;)

Zaheer Abbas scored 215, 186 and 168 in consecutive innings in the 3 Tests vs India 1982/83 (only batted once in each test)

Mudassar Nazar scored 231, 152* and 152 vs India 1983
Marnus approaching rare territory of only the third batsmen to make three 150's on the Trott.

Is this the largest disparity between runs in internationals and non-internationals? Leaders. What was it for FC and tests?

Gayle is like Mount Everest, whilst Virat and Rohit are the twin peaks of San Francisco.
