What's going on over there? I hear that reporters are now having their accreditation randomly revoked by CSA for no apparent reason?
Have know idea! It is just a steaming pile of **** at the moment. Nobody quite knows what is going on.

Now being reported that Smith is getting the job after rejecting it last month?

Former captain Graeme Smith will reportedly be named Cricket South Africa’s director of cricket later this month.

According to the Sunday Times, Smith will sign a four-year contract soon. The contract will last until the end of the 2023 World Cup, which will be hosted in India.

Apparently Graeme has been give carte blanche to appoint who he wants as team director. Will sign a 4 year deal. Tasked with giving direction to all teams and the structure.

Revoking the reporters accreditation has back fired dismally (shock!) on CSA. Considering the reason for it was that they did not like the articles and press CSA and some personal where receiving makes it unbelievable levels of stupid.

After talking to CSA’s Thamie Mthembu on @KayaFMTalk about the accreditation saga, it’s clear CSA thinks that “writing about cricket” means match reports only and not the chaotic state of affairs in the administration of the sport. Actually it’s both. @shockerhess @NeilManthorp

It seems as though the newspapers may have jumped the gun regarding Smith's appointment.

Cape Town - Former Proteas captain Graeme Smith says he is in discussions with Cricket South Africa (CSA) regarding the Director of Cricket position, but admits he has reservations about working for the governing body.

Smith was responding after a weekend report appeared to indicate it was a signed and sealed deal that the job was his.

In an article titled "Captain Fantastic is back! Graeme Smith appointed CSA's director of cricket", the Sunday Times wrote that Smith was set to sign a four-year deal later this month.

However, Smith took to Twitter on Monday to deny that he was already appointed in the role, but admitted there were negotiations taking place.

"Contrary to media reports I have not been appointed Director of Cricket by CSA. As previously advised I withdrew my application for the role. I am, however, in ongoing discussions with CSA, but I still have real concerns, which I have reiterated to them," Smith wrote.

Part of me really hopes Graeme takes the job; part of me wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy.

I think Smith has them over a barrel; they want him and he is obviously the preferred man for the job but is making demands that means he gets to do things they may not like. But they also know they need him particularly getting the public (and possibly sponsorship) back on side. It will be interesting to see what happens.

I think it being made public that he was interviewed for the job has pretty much forced them to go with him. After the rugby success everybody wants cricket to find its Rassie, and Manack and Van Zyl just don't inspire the same level of confidence. It's not impossible that they could be good at the job if they were to be appointed, but they're not Graeme Smith - one of South Africa's most iconic cricketers and a man who personifies leadership. So appointing anyone other than Smith would be met with far too big a wave of disapproval that they probably can't afford not to appoint him.

I think the players are there on a talent basis.... but the experience is not. Rugby has players with superrugby experience which is still an international stage. If you were pickuing player direct out of provincial rugby Rassie would not have done anything. As discussed many times the cricket domestic structure is in such poor shape that the step up takes longer hence the need to pick the right players now and get us to a point in 4 years time. Smith would have more than twice as long as Rassie. His bigger job would likely be fixing the domestic structure and importantly getting buy in from sponsorship, without the money little will happen.

Maybe, maybe not. There's obviously no guarantee that Smith would be successful even given carte blanche by CSA, but it's what his appointment would signify i.e. that they're serious about fixing things. Appointing anyone else instead of Smith when we know that he's interested in the job would be seen by the public and sponsors as them not being interested in setting things right - perhaps unfairly, but that's what the perception would be.

Chances they ask Bacher in temporary to clean house?

Else lets just put CSA into business rescue... at least the politicians get no say then.

Love this part. Jack Madiseng now standing up for Moroe and blaming Nenzani and Williams. This is basically a "plea" for him to become President and keep his good mate Moroe CEO and they brought GCB governance into disrepute together already. This is rife through out South Africa. People who are incompetent and taking advantage of their position and power and bringing everything built before them down. Loved Iqbal Khan on his resignation saying "there was widespread abuse of the credit cards within the office.

Jack Madiseng positioning himself for a CSA Presidency? As guilty as all the non-independents in the patronage network. I resigned as a lead Independent at Gauteng because of his behavior.

David Terbrugge

Ditto. This is laughable. Madiseng now positioning himself as savior of Cricket in SA. He is major part of the problem. Poacher turned gamekeeper!

Colin Bryden
@colinbryden1
His email reads like a bid for the presidency, which would presumably entrench the CEO in his position.

David Terbrugge
@dt3101
Presidency is definitely his ambition. Madiseng/Moroe joined at the hip from time at CGL and GCB.

These people think cricket lovers are stupid. And today a couple of employees at CSA have been suspended. It’s a circus

Madiseng is holding on to Presidency of Gauteng cricket. 2019 AGM not yet held because it means he will lose his CSA Board position!

This is amateurish in the extreme. It displays a culture of blame deflection and school yard tattletaling. The entire
@OfficialCSA
board needs to resign with immediate effect. The lot of you are out of your depth and clearly have no class or credibility. What a shame.

None of them going to survive. If nothing else the corporate sponsors won't allow it, and money talks.

Standard Bank is absolutely a shot across the bows... Standard will probably continue if by April next year CSA has got itself new management. But this is an absolutely clear message. Now it is just Sunfoil who is already demanding removal.

I would not be surprised to find the Sports Minister stepping in soon, get an interim board going. The litmus here is who gets into place.
