Agreed, if you could somehow fuse Wahab's heart and stamina with Amir's brain and skill, you would probably end up with a world class bowler. They're both mediocre but for completely different reasons.

What a great declaration
I was just having a rant before. Inspired declaration for the win.

But now we may very well have 2 days of the alternative programming like they put on on monday. That was serious punishment for australia winning early.

Just thinking back to the aftermath of Pakistan's last Oz tour in 16/17 When Misbah Ul Haq took great offence at comments from Ian Chappell suggesting CA should think twice about hosting Pakinstan Tests again as they'd lost 12 in a row.

Perhaps Chappell's comments were over the top but to be blunt Pakistan's efforts this series have been an embarrassment and only validate Chappell's view that Pakistan playing Tests in Oz is a waste of time.

And the irony is that as coach/selector Misbah has to take an even greater portion of the blame for this shambles of an effort.

God that Paine declaration pisses me off. 335* in a probable three a half day win.
I feel like I'm going to annoy people by repeating this so many times but the declaration worked perfectly. They got a wicket in the short time they had before dinner, and surely any criticism of the declaration should then be put to bed when they picked up 5 under the lights.

I remember that and i agreed. Pak have been embarrassing themselves in Aus for 2 decades now. They really should stop touring here for the next 2 decades. It makes for painful viewing.

I guess being demoted to a 2 Test series for the first time since WSC shows where they're at in Australian cricket.

If there's one thing CW does poorly, it's declaration chat.

This is a Test Championship series, yes? 2-0 earns more than 1-0. Dum dum scoring 400 earns nothing. It's a team sport. There's rain forecast. And you're not allowed to revise your declaration once Pakistan are 90-6. Absolute no brainers.

Our sport does not need Warner as its pinnacle of batting achievement either.

scoring 400 probably requires a selfish sacrifice of the team anyway. Lara showed that.

100% agree that Warner holding the record would leave everyone a but flat

Mohammed Abbas is basically a fitter version of Praveen Kumar. Also relatively more lethal in English conditions.

More inexcusable than bad bowling is the utter lack of fight with the bat by Pakistan. 6/96 after the other side only lost 3 wickets before declaring for around 600 is completely terrible. It shows an utter lack of fight.

These Pakistan players all seem to be nice blokes from what I can tell which makes it even more painful to watch. Other than Babar no one has stood up and put any fight up. Some of the dismissals last night were to simply awful shots.

Brilliant declaration by Paine though.

Tbqh seeing the 400 beaten would be infinitely more exciting and memorable than another home test win against Pakistan

And no, I don't care about the WTC

Let's be honest though rain is probably the most likely thing that will push this Test beyond 3 days.

Its this weak attitude that typifies NZ that prevented Martin Crowe from getting 300 all those years ago and this attitude that made it so it would be Brendon McCullum as the pinnacle of NZ batting achievement.

Don't be fooled by it folks.
