I say that about Bryant in the greatest flattery though. Each time he's batting I can't resist but to turn on the stream or tv to watch what happens.

Is Cameron Green the new allrounder messiah we've been looking for?

Saving WA with 87* in first innings and now 66* so far after coming in at 7-53

Green is very good, so happy for him.

One of those cricketers who isnt quite ready to be a part of a 4 man attack and cant bat at 6, but has so much promise

Qld will shut up shop. No way a Qlder would have the balls to go after a chase like that. They don't have that sort of moxy in them. Inherently conservative and risk averse. It's why their State is just a few million square miles of nothing and thei capital is known as "The Gateway to the Freeway Heading South."

Green is a superb young cricketer. I tend to very much believe he could hold his spot in the Australian team on bowling alone in the future, what really has impressed me is his ability to swing the ball away while still getting plenty of bounce off a length. This is the first time he has really made a truly outstanding batting contribution at Shield level but there is clearly plenty of ability there, has made some pretty decent teams as a specialist bat when unable to bowl as a result of injury

If he can avoid major injury the bloke really could be anything

Just needs Chris Green to be picked as the spinning all rounder and together they could be the next generation's Marsh non-brothers.

WA batsmen should be pretty ashamed of themselves, if it wasn't for Green and Kelly they'd have been knocked over for sub-80

Magnificent stonewalling effort by Kelly and something which batsmen around the country could learn from.

One of the ATG backs-to-the-wall Shield innings here. When you consider starting pitcher Cameron Gannon was unable to remove Green, it puts the greatness of the knock into perspective.

I agree with the sentiment and this may be a bit pedantic, but I'd go slightly short of this and just say I think he could be a Test standard specialist bowler. You typically need to be a bit better than that to actually hold a place in the Australian team as a quick though. I think Jackson Bird is a Test standard bowler but he's never held down a spot as such because of the competition. I don't think Green's going to be a better bowler than Bird; I just think he could be roughly as good as him (if he avoids injury) and also average low to mid 30s with the blade.

That's still extremely exciting, but all the same.

Green now has more runs this season than Test locks Wade and Labuschagne, and he's played one less game. Not bad for a #8

My Shield team of the year to date:

MS Harris (VIC) 266 runs at 53.20
NJ Maddinson (VIC) 389 runs at 77.80
M Labuschagne (QLD) 225 runs at 56.25, 4 wickets at 23.50
SE Marsh (WA) 393 runs at 78.60
TLW Cooper (SA) 467 runs at 116.75
MP Stoinis (WA) 218 runs at 43.60, 7 wickets at 26.28
AT Carey (SA) 151 runs at 50.33, 8 catches and 0 stumpings
MG Neser (QLD) 15 wickets at 20.20
MA Starc (NSW) 11 wickets at 17.18
CJ Sayers (SA) 14 wickets at 15.00
JM Bird (TAS) 15 wickets at 15.26

Some tough calls there, Matthew Wade and Harry Conway very stiff indeed to miss out. Tried not to go for guys off the back of one good game only, but I did end up picking Starc because the attack would look a little samey without him. Feel free to offer your opinion/call me a bellend if you disagree

How about Gannon over Neser, bellend? :P

Please put a little c beside Carey too.

Next shield rounds will be interesting as sides weakened by the Aus A game.

Vics lose 3 of their top 6 (Harris, Maddinson, Pucovski) vs Qld who lose Burns, Khawaja and Neser.

SA, who have now played 16 games since their last win, lose their 2 best players in Head and Carey vs Tas who lose Riley Meredith.

WA lose Jhye Richardson vs NSW who lose Abbott but get back Cummins and Starc.
