With batting absolutely I agree, we need stability. But I would hate to see Cummins for example come in the next Test series undercooked because he has just been bowling four overs as his match preparation
Ashes were only two months ago. He certainly wasn't undercooked during them!

Overall I'm mostly with TJB on this matter.

Cheers. Just looked it up. There's a Shield match around the same time as these T20s, so guys like Smith, Warner and Cummins will have two Shield games then these matches as test hitouts, and maybe the Shield round afterwards if they need it.

Now that I look at the schedule a bit closer it seems not too bad assuming both Cummins and Hazlewood play the next Shield game. Starc would get three games, Hazlewood would also get three, Cummins would get two and Pattinson would technically be available for all four but I doubt Victoria would play him all of those without a rest. I guess I am just prioritising Shield overs as the ideal preparation for Test cricket, that is where I am coming from

Jhye Richardson also comes into the picture pending form and fitness. Siddle's time is up at this level

I wish Siddle would just retire and stop tempting selectors to pick him unnecessarily again.

Hohn's reason for the non selection of Chris Lynn is bizarre.
Not letting this slide by unquoted:

Fox Sports said:
Chairman of selectors Trevor Hohns earlier indicated a lack of recent playing time had taken Lynn out of the equation for national selection.

“We haven’t considered him at the moment,” Hohns said. “Chris isn’t playing any cricket locally or within Australia. Sure, he’s been travelling the world playing T20 cricket. If he performs very well in the upcoming Big Bash, our season here, of course we can revisit that.”
It's this sort of logic that lets you know the selectors are doing A1 at their jobs.

Wouldn't pick him anyway while he still has to be hidden in the field
Yeah this is fair enough and if they just said that it'd be fine. But the quote seems to suggest they're not considering franchise T20 performances outside the BBL which is ridiculous.

I'd say the opposite tbh. You need to get your squad together and firing leading up to the World T20 (I refuse to call it a world cup), not messing around giving randos games.
You mean you will wait until Australia win one before you start calling it a world cup?

To be fair, he's probably too old to watch CPL and IPL late at night, early morning.

**** him for the Burns fiasco though.

Lynn looks like a great option when you don't think too deeply, but when you consider how the **** can barely move and can't throw, he's probably not quite good enough as a batsman alone to be in the team.

possibly

I don't necessarily mind them not picking Lynn if it's for fitness reasons. But the reason given publicly is basically that he hadn't played in the Marsh cup. Which is bizarre beyond belief.

I think Carey probably has some pretty admirable leadership traits and he'll end up being Austrlaia's test keeper sooner rather than later, but I'd much rather him work on his keeping up to the stumps more than anything else right now.

I just don't understand where the whole idea of Carey for captaincy even came from. If he was to do the job for South Australia like Hohns is obviously suggesting and do well at it he could be an option a few years down the track, but the idea is a complete non starter at this stage in his career. You have to do the job for your state before your country and at this stage I would much rather see Carey continue to focus on his keeping and his batting

Anyway, WA squad:

1. Mitchell Marsh ©
2. Ashton Agar
3. Cameron Bancroft
4. Hilton Cartwright
5. Cameron Green
6. Josh Inglis
7. Matt Kelly
8. Shaun Marsh
9. Joel Paris
10. Josh Philippe
11. Jhye Richardson
12. Marcus Stoinis
13. Sam Whiteman
