4th Test at Old Trafford, Manchester

GIMH

Norwood's on Fire
Good of Burns not getting out an hour later. I had visions of Roy having to face the new ball

Dozed off for a short period only to wake up to Lyon still bowling too flat and straight to Root and too short and wide to the lefty.

I hope this series makes Roy suck at ODIs too. How awkward to ever walk out in coloreds again knowing you've been exposed as a hack.

Lyon has been poo. He's frequently bowling from well behind the crease too, no wonder he's dropping it short.
Yeah, he hasn't been great. In fairness Burns played him exceptionally well, I don't think I've seen any LHers cut Lyon as consistently as he did. Cook used to get in trouble all the time trying to do exactly that and he was no slouch against offspin.

Sigh, what a horrible dilemma, we need Roy to fail again so he doesn't hurt us further in the future, but at the same time we desperately need him to survive a couple of hours because of how far behind we are.

Yeah he’s been tidy and hasn’t been smacked around but he’s not threatening enough. Basically do what Ponting is saying. He’s been doing it for so long I figure he’s bowling to a plan to bowl flat and tidy rather than a bit wider and ripping it. Surely he has to toss a few up to Roy here.

You'd think that if even if you are trying to keep it tight, it's way, way harder to milk singles on the offside than behind square leg off the back foot as Root is so adept at doing

What an awful time to have to come in when you’re out of nick. Poor light, tight bowling, low confidence and a mile behind in the game. Cruel game

Yeah I agree but it’s got to be a plan. He hasn’t tried to toss it up all day
