Big time. It's crazy to see how different things are that Burns can knock him around for singles like cake whereas he looks like he can get Root's wicket close to every ball.Seems to be getting much more turn outside the RHer's off stump than the LHer's
If by "a long time" you mean "less than two weeks" sure. Even taking away the last hour, the new ball bowling at Headingley was total trash and ultimately so vital.Big time. This is close to the worst spell I've seen an Australian bowl in a long time.
This looked even worse than that IMO, though I guess he's not at least giving them leg-side freebies so much as innocuous fodder. If by "a long time" you mean "less than two weeks" sure. Even taking away the last hour, the new ball bowling at Headingley was total trash and ultimately so vital.
Nah that was crap from everyone, and quite inexplicably so. You do kind of have to accept that this will happen semi-regularly with Starc. His hesitance to actually bowl at the stumps is baffling me though. This looked even worse than that IMO, though I guess he's not at least giving them leg-side freebies so much as innocuous fodder.
What the hell is Root thinking?
He should be bowling around the wicket straight at Burns left shoulder. And he should always have a third man when he’s bowling.I really don't understand why Starc doesn't just bowl basically half his deliveries at the stumps.
I think that's what annoying me, if it was a case of overpitching and gifting 4's or seeing heaps of short stuff go over Burns's head I could at see where he's coming from. Here he's neither attacking nor containing.Nah that was crap from everyone, and quite inexplicably so. You do kind of have to accept that this will happen semi-regularly with Starc. This is a big big reason why I was really hesitant about picking Starc and going away from "all control, all the time" as a strategy. Just brings the crowd right into the game. The crowd really gets to Australia when they're going off like this
Heaven forbid faitgue or the game not being played in a lab mate. They bowled eight loose overs in four days’ cricket. To say it cost them is ludicrous.Nah that was crap from everyone, and quite inexplicably so. You do kind of have to accept that this will happen semi-regularly with Starc. I mean it did. They lost the game, and everyone knew the new ball was going to be absolutely vital.Heaven forbid faitgue or the game not being played in a lab mate. They bowled eight loose overs in four days’ cricket. To say it cost them is ludicrous.
