This all seems very one-note to me to Burns, though it seems a pretty bad wicket for quicks at this point.
Lyon needs to get a full couple of overs at him aiming st the rough. Starc around the wicket to him worth a go too, use the angle across him because he looks basically becalmed with it going across him

Leave cover open and stack the legside. Dare him to try playing a cover drive/back cut against that sort of turn and bounce.

Silly point for Root as well pls. Got nearly 500 on the board ffs.

Good session this. Really enjoyable seeing a couple of blokes grinding out tough runs.

Anyone getting these stupid ****ing Carnival Row or whatever it’s called ads? Fmd just what the world needs, Orlando Bloom in a period costume drama with a hint of fantasy/ supernatural/ mythical creatures. Aren’t you ****s ever happy with shows based on, you know, the real ****ing world instead of this sort of ****.

Oh yeah, we're being hammered with it.

Yeah some of these field placings seem a bit too conservative to me. This would be fine if we had scored 350 or something but only one side can realistically win this Test, should try to go all out for a period while there's two set batsmen there who aren't scoring freely.

Have a lot of time for Burns. His stance is ugly as sin but he somehow manufactures not entirely hideous-looking strokes out of it. He also understands what Test cricket is all about.

He’s gutsy, this kid but if Starc bowls around the wicket at him he could really get hurt.

Good partnership

Wouldn't have thought it would be Root struggling to Lyon and Burns being the one playing him quite well at this stage. Good test cricket this. Lyon consistently bowls well without getting wickets, usually getting them in a cluster later on in his spell.
