4th Test at Old Trafford, Manchester

my thoughts exactly. The whole ball was smashing the stumps. If it was not out then England would rightfully be annoyed.

(still not as out as Stokes was though)
Yeah I don't get why the umpire's call line is through the middle of the bails. Surely it should be at the top, the bails count just as much as the rest of the stumps (and if anything they technically count more)

teams will be noting that archers bowling is influenced by the confrontation. keep him asleep at the bowling crease.

Been one of my dislikes with DRS for a long time this one. The bails apparently don't count as part of the wicket.

Happy to be proven incorrect as I love watching genuine quicks but Archer isn’t a Thomson/Holding/Shoaib/Lee

Rhythm bowler who will be really quick on his day

I like this move. Broad's got it swinging and Stokes has been hooping it this series so should see some movement here, just hope his radar is on point first up.

I can never seem to get over the hypocrisy of expecting bowlers to commiserate with a felled batsman. So here's Smith, back from a concussion and Archer's going to try to knock his head off once again. Yeah, there have been threads here on the topic before, but it's a bit disingenuous to suggest he's only trying to set Smith up, get him out caught hooking, etc. No problem with it from my end whatsoever, mind you, but it's time to acknowledge how merciless and blood lusting cricket can be, white clothing and claims of chivalry notwithstanding.

Yep, I think sheer pace is his Plan B. Bit like Steyn in that regard.

low key hoping for a good gif in future of smith going well back for a leave then accidentally lightsabering his stumps

This only makes sense if you think cricket is actually violence and war and not a sport, and the batsman is an enemy, not an opponent.

Look I’ll be pretty happy if Archer comes on after drinks and just bowls short. The uneven bounce did it at Lord’s, more even than the pace.
