Federer has been crap at the US Open for years and has looked unconvincing (his last two opponents pretty much threw in the towel). They've slowed it down in recent years and Nadal generally does better here comparatively.
Nadal has won Zero out of the last 15 non-clay matches against Fed + Novak.

That doesn't have much relevance to their current form, which looks dodgy for Federer, whereas Nadal won a Masters tournament in the leadup.

I mean Fed's last 6 sets are 6-2,6-2,6-1,6-2,6-2,6-0

Regardless, how those 2 + Djokovic play against the rest of the field has always been irrelevant to how they play against each other. Weren't people claiming that Nadal was the favorite against Fed in Wimbeldon on a similar basis.

I hope you are right. But Federer's recent history at the US Open doesn't fill me with confidence TBH. The scheduling of matches, weather, night sessions etc. doesn't seem to suit him these days, plus the fact that he aims to be at his peak during Wimbledon.

He looked good in the last couple of matches but Evans was gassed and Goffin was either injured or threw in the towel midway through. Federer looked so rusty in the first two matches that I can't trust that he's suddenly worked it out.

yeah nadal is the favorite now for sure...if he and fed meet, it will likely be more competitive than a french open matchup but i don't see the result changing...and fed has to first get past dimitrov and then wawrinka/medvedev to get to nadal...

On the Medvedev bandwagon for financial reasons and respecting his trolling game. The US crowd even though I suspect its pretty wealthy can act like yobs at times.

The Ladies Quarters are Serena playing at about 70% of her peak and a who's who of mediocrity.

Federer and Nadal have never played at the US Open, so that could at least be something to look forward to if they both make the final.

After all the hype of the last few years, Zverev turned out to be such a spud. Served 17 double-faults apparently.

This next-gen is utter, utter crap and this is the weakest of weak eras. Imagine two players being 33+ and an absolute lock to make any given Grand Slam final as long as they are fit.

Only Thiem is worth a toss and unfortunately he's unable to stop Nadal at the French and sucks away from clay.

I think the numerous beatings from the hands of the big three ****ed up with their confidence, they don't believe that they can beat these guys on any consistent basis.

Part of the blame is the schedule. There's just too many tournaments and a lot of pressure on these guys to play as many ATP tours as possible to preserve their rankings that they always turn up half injured to these grand slams.

yeah this time he is done winning grand slams...that heart-breaker at wimbledon really was the final blow to his chances...now we can watch rafa and novak effortlessly go past his slam record over the next 2-3 years...:(
