Selvey proposed just re-doing the batting order now and I agree with him

Ok, in the spirit of **** or bust, I'm going to rejig the order . Burns, Denly, Stokes, Root, Bairstow, Roy, Buttler.

Probably can't use Stokes that high given all the bowling though

Just relieved there's been no BS about declaring.

UC to comment on ground fielding.
I think ground fielding plus having a third man save you 100-odd runs. Root taking the dolly at slip saves you at least 60 and probably more because you get into the lower order sooner. And even with that they barely have over 400 runs over two innings. You would have to say they've bowled really, really well. Like, way beyond the level where you should ever lose a test. Stokes brilliant, Archer brilliant, Broad very good, even Woakes was far better than his figures suggest.

Still a very meh scorecard. If someone else had gone on to get a seventy-odd the game wold be comprehensively out of England's reach, as it is the door is just very slightly ajar.

That Australian score was about par. England with a good start and one middle order partnership might get 170. They’re generally pretty reckless (or gutless) in a lost cause so it could be anything.

Agree except on Woakes. Puts paid to the 'if Jimmy is fit...' discussion from last week
