3rd Test at Headingley, Leeds

Labuschagne's past week has been amazing. I don't think anyone could have imagined what he's done after he was named 12th man at Lords.

Shame he just missed out of his HS in both innings. Loved his first innings knock, definitely rode his luck but the 80 was still class.

A totally undeserved wicket.

Let's see what Headingley can yield. Sixteen hours of play remaining, so there should be no hurry.

Bizarre shot. Probably not a bad wicket though, there's enough on the board and I don't want to see Archer take any of our bowlers out.

This looks a very difficult wicket in any case. I expect to see one good partnership early doors for England though.

Can't wait to disregard Archer's stats because of a high percentage of tail wickets.

Anyway, far tougher odds for England than Headingley 81 and that's a side without Botham.

Now presuming we get stuffed at some point this evening for the next test I would go with

Burns
Sibley
Northeast
Root
Pope
Stokes
Bairstow
Archer
Broad
Leach
Anderson c

The thought behind it is as follows, Woakes isn't fit or why is he not bowling more, if not fit let him get fit. Roy, Denly and Buttler are not test players so should all be dropped and at least we are picking batsmen who are in form this summer. Root has to lose the captaincy and go back to 4 and you give it Jimmy by default as there is nobody else to give it to and he can do it as a thankyou for a great career while we plan ahead and give Burns more time to cement his place. Not ideal but where do you go from here.

Oh and send Bayliss on beach leave, his job is done and giver Silverwood a go for the remainder of the series.
