Oh yeah, your batting has been disgraceful lately. Just that Australia seem more reknown for these collapses especially in England.Well we have done it against New Zealand, West Indies and Ireland in the last year or so it is not all that surprising.
Said we would have been bowled out for 50 yesterday....
AgreedEngland would be 8/30 if PSiddle was playing
Nah he just got a ton and then did nothing. It was the pattern for a while but they seemed to have stopped the early ton bit now.Yeah that's true. Still he did slightly better than everyone else.
Pretty much your second point. The domestic system is a complete joke and has been for years. That's why we've barely seen a newcomer to the test team perform decently in the last 8 years. Root the obvious exception until now, and Stokes up to a point. Moeen and Bairstow to an even lesser extent. But that really is it since we reached number 1 eight years ago. Obviously Roy looks an absolutely ludicrous suggestion now, but all the discussions about this pre-series offered absolutely no alternatives from the county game. As others have pointed out, Pope has just played his first four-day game of the season.Pope being ignored? Roy being expected to succeed as a test opener? Those are selector issues. Is your point that they are forced to make funky decisions due to a lack of batting options in county cricket?
Even in the worst case scenario though they'll struggle to get to 200. Woakes has been good for a good 30 but he'll need a match-defining innings and some support down the order.Woakes is going to bail them out again, isn't he?
In all seriousness, who have you got to replace him? Cook survived a 5-0.Sooner we lose and sack Root the better.
Nothing like yesterday. Runs were there if they'd got past the new ball.Geez this has all happened very quickly hasn't it? I'm guessing bowling-friendly conditions again today?
