I mean it's not even a question. There is absolutely zero way in high hell he should be allowed to play the next game regardless of how you finangle the regulations.
Well the statement made is 'the short turnaround is not in his favour' which sounds like 'it's really unlikely but if there's a chance....'

Labuschagne should be able to bowl his part time leg spinners as Smith bowlers part time leg spinners. Mitch Marsh though should not be able to bowl if he was brought into the side.
Don't know if like for like extends that far. Think it just comes down to are you a batsman, AR or a bowler

Steve Smith's symptoms are listed on the concussion sub application as the following:

Headache, dizziness, feeling slowed down, feeling in a fog, doesn't feel right, drowsiness, one component of CogSport "below baseline" (ie failed one element of testing)

Yikes.

I think I'm going to blow a gasket now. The series is done, and it could permanently affect his career. No way can we win at Headingley without him.

I heard or read something that match referees where going to have the ability to say a player could or could not bowl if they replaced a batsman who did not bowl. I almost posted something on here about it but decided not too.

Yeah but I know this is bullshit because of who the coach is. They managed to stop him against SA in 05!
No they didn't? They delayed it but if lee/kaspagot out we'll never know if they would have stopped him. He was padded up iirc. Different anyway, because he had been diagnosed with a concussion.

There can be conditions attached to the replacement. It'll be interesting to see how specific they might get over time.

Oh I always remember the story as they physically stopped him
