I do think at this stage the ball-tampering is being used as an excuse by some people to indulge in behaviour that they would otherwise accept is unconscionable.
sports crowds in general do this all the time. you wouldn't chant '.player/umpire, is a wanker!' if you met them in the supermarket. well maybe if they were a massive **** and you have no filter, im not going to presume, but yea.

so it's no surprise some use specific situations like the sandpaper saga to ramp this up to eleven. scott kugglejuggle by all reports bowls faster if you discuss consent with him and reportedly during the t20 where he hit 150kph the hamilton crowd were saying "scott! hey scott! rape him!"

So yeah it's really quite important that we don't lose this game because otherwise we're odds on to lose Headingley now as well.

I appreciate this will seem incredibly agenda driven as an Englishman and it's a massive shame from a series perspective - but I really, really hope that Smith isn't rushed back for the 3rd Test.

Concussion protocols aren't designed for convenience, they're designed for safety.

Which also may explain the way Stokes is batting. Get 200 on board and see if Aussie batting can cope without their talisman.

im surprised he passed the first test tbh. a cricket ball at sub 100 can give you concussion if it hits bare skin around the neck and above, 150kph should probably be 'even if you pass now, you're obviously going to have delayed symptoms. you're not going out there again.'

I mean it's not even a question. There is absolutely zero way in high hell he should be allowed to play the next game regardless of how you finangle the regulations.

Labuschagne should be able to bowl his part time leg spinners as Smith bowlers part time leg spinners. Mitch Marsh though should not be able to bowl if he was brought into the side.
